If you are buying this for a 4.6L 3V, this one works perfect for it. I originally bought the $46 amazon timing tool kit and the one in there I had to modify it twice. Don’t waste your time with other ones, this one was a total time saver.

Mine might have been improperly manufactured, as it would not engage the thread at all when the foot was seated properly and tool pushed tightly against the cam. There simply was too much of a gap between thread and knob for my 2007 F250 5.4L 3V. I pulled out my calipers and found that there was almost 15mm of metal in the knob between the bottom of the hole and surface of the knob; so I drilled the blind hole about 7-8mm deeper and that did the trick -- this baby easily removed the rest of the cam followers. I also purchased a different knockoff tool (KAKO) which did seat/thread well but the foot was too big/thick to fit in the less-accessible valve springs. All in all, for over $100 less than the OTC tool, this is a great find if you're willing/able to tweak it a little.

I was a bit unsure about this tool after reading a few reviews, but I did not have a single problem removing any rocker arms for my Ford 5.4 engine. I doubt that anybody giving this a poor review is most likely not using it properly, or have their cams in the correct position. Lots of youtube video on how to use it, and how to have your cams positioned correctly. This tool is just as good as the OTC brand which has been out of stock everywhere, and save yourself a hundred bucks. By the way, use a sturdy rod or stick to hold the rocker arm down when using the tool instead of your finger, much easier. I also used a retractable magnet to get all the rocker arms out easily.

I was looking to buy the OTC tool for this after reading how so many others broke this tool while using. However there were enough positive reviews that I decided to try and save some money so I took a chance on this brand of tool. I am very glad that I did. After removing and installing the roller followers 30 times (6 removal and 24 install) you learn what feels correct and what doesn't. Above all, be patient! This is a tedious process. Be careful to have the tool positioned correctly on the valve spring and in the correct pocket of the cylinder head for the valve spring to be pushed down. It is extremely easy for the tool to catch on the side of a cylinder head bolt boss and hang up. If you keep tightening it, this is when I think these tools can break. When positioned correctly, the amount of twisting force you put on the knob will feel the same for all valves. It if feels tight, then stop and figure out where it is hanging up. An inspection mirror will be extremely helpful to make sure the follower is put back in the proper position. Three times during this process, I didn't have the follower in the correct position and released the valve spring only to discover that I had to do it again on that valve to get the follower in the correct place. Other than that, don't hesitate to buy this tool over the other more expensive brand. It works!

The threads were not quite long enough to catch the threads of the handle. It was a fight to get it to catch. One of the tongs of the forked part broke off. Don't waist your time or money on this.

If you think removing or installing cam followers is easy, think again. It's tricky, especially for occasional mechanics. Be extra careful when using the tool—alignment is crucial because there's very little space to work. By the end, you'll likely have a few nicks and cuts to show for it.

I haven’t used it for the project ahead, but looks solid and clean no burrs. I will rewrite a new review once I use for the project.I finally got around to using this tool and it work well on my 2010 f150 5.4 3V, it was a little tricky to get used to it but after doing a few valves it got easier. Great tool to have available.

Product works great. For the others below that had issues. This is for a 4.6 or 5.4 2V SOHC motor, they also provide one for the DOHC motors and the 3V. You will however require this tool plus the DOHC tool when working on the 32V’s as one side will not allow you the proper amount of room to compress the spring safIey. Lastly I have never attempted to use them on any other engines only the one it’s listed for. Mine works great without issues and hasn’t broken yet, I had my previous one get taken from my tool box and not return so I needed to replace it.
