I had to order the OneBoxForAll brand expandable electrical box when I saw it listed on Amazon Vine. I have not seen a PVC expandable electrical box before. I have experience with the metal “gangable†electrical boxes where one can expand the number of gangs by removing one side and adding another box. Unlike the metal expandable electrical boxes, the OneBoxForAll brand expandable electrical box forms a tight box once assembled, which certainly raises the fire protection level. The depth of this particular OneBoxForAll brand expandable electrical box is much deeper than the typical 25 cubic inch 2-gang old work box one purchases from a local hardware store unless paying more money for the deeper, 34 cubic inch box. This OneBoxForAll brand expandable electrical box matches the 34 cubic inch box in depth. One key advantage of the OneBoxForAll brand is the additional anchor wings to secure the box. This box is ideal for wiring smart switches and GFCIs/AFCIs due to its depth and internal volume. The only downside is the price. It is about 40 percent more than a 2-gang 34 cubic inch box from my local hardware store. So, one wonders if the additional cost is better than having an assortment of electrical boxes of various gang sizes - probably for the occasional DIY person. For me, I always have multiple electrical boxes on hand, all the way up to a couple of 4-gang boxes, both new work and old work.

I love this old work box. I received a double gang old work box but I love it. It looks great, the screws work like a normal box but with extra ears and a couple of screws to hold the box together. I thought it wasn't a kit until I looked closer and realized that the kit is 3 pieces. One left side, middle, and right side. So with this box you can remove the middle and make it one gang.Anyways, it works great, but is kinda expensive compared to what you get in store. It's versatile in that you can remove parts but I don't have the parts so maybe when they send you a "kit" it will have multiple parts.We got this box for $10 and normally we get boxes in bulk for say $3 to $4 a piece. So while we love this idea, it needs to come down a tiny bit in pricing at least for bulk orders. Otherwise this is great. I do question though, how is the next person going to tell that the box is expandable, not much labeling inside to indicate where this was from or who made it. Due to that, if you don't tell anyone it's expandable, most likely it will just get ripped out and tossed like any other box.

I've used a number of these type of electrical boxes for adding electrical connections into an fully constructed environment. This item worked fine and I had no issues or concerns.

This old work electrical box from OneBoxForAll is unique in that it is the only box on the market that is expandable. This particular box is called the Old Work BaseBox from which you can expand. The box separates in the middle where you would add what is termed a “ring†to allow for a new device. What I really like about the box, notwithstanding the expandable feature, is how securely it attaches to the wall with 4 wings instead of the typical 2. In addition, the wings are constructed differently for a more positive attachment. I have a manufactured home with switches and receptacles that are wired without boxes and I wanted to update the color of the components. The only way to do that is by adding old work boxes. This brand will be my go-to for old work boxes.
