I bought the square scratching post. It is solid plywood with a clear coat finish, and seems like nice quality. My Mainecoon in the pictures has taken to it quickly. I am using it unconventionally by standing it upright and attached it to my window feeding shelf. It works great and the cats love it.

The product looks exactly as pictured. It does require minimal assembly, but it is sturdy and the part they scratch on looks durable. The cats even play with the little springy toy on the end.

Now for the kitty to use... easy to put together in 2 minutes and very impressive. I'm taken with it and hope kitty will use this 'balance beam' with a paw massage walk on top and give a goodly scratch along the sides - fingers crossed. Update: the main posts have become loose in the midsection connection which is troublesome

The diagram on how to assemble is very well done, and the included hardware is quite sturdy. Even the silicone no-slip pads are great quality.

Cats love it and it is sturdy enough for them to really dig in! It has reduced their scratching on the furniture.
