The Pferd flat hand file for aluminum has a rectangular shape with uniform thickness and single-cut American pattern teeth for finishing, sharpening, and deburring straight surfaces on aluminum and other soft materials. The single-cut teeth on both sides and one edge are for finishing, sharpening, and deburring, with a pattern that helps reduce clogging when used on soft materials. The file has no teeth on one edge to protect adjacent surfaces. The tang can be used with an optional handle for secure gripping (sold separately).
Hand files are used to remove material and smooth and shape workpieces. They have forward-facing cutting teeth and cut when pushed over either a stationary or rotating workpiece. Single-cut teeth are single rows cut diagonally across the width of the file. Double-cut teeth have two sets of rows cut in opposite directions. American pattern files have three coarseness grades. Coarse, also known as bastard cut, is suitable for efficient, heavy material removal where finish is not a concern. Medium, also known as second cut, offers average material removal and finish quality. Fine, also known as smooth cut, provides the smoothest finish. Swiss pattern files have eight coarseness grades, from 00 (coarse), 0 (medium), and 1 to 6 (fine to finest), offering a smoother finish than equivalent American pattern files. For Swiss pattern files the length of the tool is the length of the blade, not counting the tang, which is the pointed end fitted for a handle; for American pattern files the length of the tool is its entire length, including the tang.

If you need to file aluminum then this is the file you need! I cannot believe I never knew there was a file like this. Completely sped up the project I was working on. If don’t do a lot of reviews but when I do the product deserves it. This was worth every penny and it very well made. If you are struggling filing a soft metal like aluminum, then just order this file now. Damn I really wish I knew this sooner because I flew through my filing job today. Oh!!!… don’t forget to buy a file handle if you don’t already have one.

If you’re needing to file aluminum get it. It works great for that but also have a file card on hand because it will get gummed up just like the steel files. Overall worth it

I’ve been filing aluminum with less files more appropriate for steel. Once I touched this file to aluminum I knew I’d never go back. What a difference! It handles aluminum far better than standard files. I’m going to add another one or two of these to my file drawer

had to round 4 1/2" aluminum bars and this worked great. first time doing anything like this with metal. Taped the 4 bars together, rough cut with a hack saw then used this file to round over the ends. worked out great and was nice and smooth

When deciding which manufacture that I wanted an aluminum file from, I started looking at all the revieves. I chose PFERD brand because they had good reviews, but also because I have used other items manufactured by PFERD and those items always performed to my expectations.I will suggest to anybody buying an aluminum file to invest in a file cleaning brush. This will keep your file from clogging with aluminum and allow your file to work like it should. If you are going to be filing a lot of aluminum at one time, here is a hint. Load up the file with soap stone or chalk. This will prevent the constant cleaning while working on your large project. Be sure to clean your file afterwards before storage.

Die Feile ist mit „DFM Corona“ geprägt und besitzt nicht wie im Artikelbild einen Einhieb, sondern einen Kreuzhieb. Die vordere Kante schaut aus wie abgebissen, stellenweise (vorfallen an der unbehauenen Seite) ist Korrosion zu sehen. Die Feile setzt sich bei Aluminium deutlich schneller zugesetzt als das Modell welches im Titel steht. Auf der bearbeiteten Oberfläche entstehen anders als bei der mir bekannten Pferd tiefe Riefen. Diese sah aus wie am Artikelbild und ist auch mit Pferd H0 beschriftet. Normalerweise würde ich sie zurückschicken, aber da ich sie zeitnah brauche, muss ich wohl in den sauren Apfel beißen.
