This part is a perfect replacement part for use in a Price-Pfister 0X8 valve body. The failure mode that this part corrects is the reduction or stoppage of water through the valve. The specific failure this reviewer has encountered three times previously is the reduction or stoppage of hot water flow through the valve. This part is supposed to maintain a constant temperature of the water coming out of the valve (read, the shower head) if the pressure of the hot or cold water entering the valve fluctuates (read, someone flushed a toilet somewhere and things are going to get real hot!)Personal experience will probably lead one to believe that this compensatory feature may not work all that well, but it seems to be the compensating mechanism within this part that fails. If you notice a reduction or stoppage in water flow, this is the part you need. It is easy to disassemble the valve and replace the part. Just put everything in as it came out and put a little plumber's grease on the O-rings as you reassemble. The grease will enable the valve handle to be turned very smoothly and protect the O-rings from premature wear. Have fun.

My shower is working again but now you get to the hot water first as opposed to how they normally work. A slight inconvenience but should be noted.

Took me a while to find out brand of my faucet valve. Not only did the old valve not allow hot water to flow it caused hot water to mix with cold whenever any house faucet was turned on. I thought at first that my electric HW heater was going bad. This cartridge worked perfectly!
