Like most people I've been using stud finders for most of my life. They work (sometimes), but many times have problems getting an accurate reading.I saw this and thought I'd give it a try because the concept seemed so simple, I figured it would probably work. It does! No calibrating, no erroneous readings, it just works. You simply move the tool across the surface from side to side and adjust up and down a bit with each pass. You will quickly know when you've hit a stud because this thing will instantly 'grab' and lock onto the screw or nail it finds. It holds firmly in place, so you can mark the position easily, without holding the stud finder. And since it locks onto the screw or nail, you can be pretty sure you've got the stud center. (I can't tell you how many times I've used a traditional stud finder and just missed the edge entirely based on its reading.)It has vertical and horizontal levels built in, which is a nice plus. I wish I had one of these years ago as it would have saved me a lot of time and frustration.The only improvement I could suggest (StudBuddy people are you listening??) is to add a laser line projector to the end of this thing. That, combined with the levels would allow easy marking of the stud center along the projected line, completely hands-free. I would buy that tool for sure if you make it!!So, simple is better. It's as simple as that. I highly recommend this product and will be buying a few more as gifts for my favorite people, as I know they will be most appreciated.

Before I get crushed here let me explain.This stud finder works off the principle and a very sound one, that drywall is help in place by screws, metal screws. When you drag this device across the wall you can feel it pull the closer you get to the screw. And when it reaches the screw, it grips really hard to that metal screw. If you on a screw, it is almost center of the stud. Because if you on a joint between 2 pcs of drywall the screws will be just off center, but not enough to worry about.If you are worried about hitting wiring, if an outlet or switch is nearby, the wires is running up the side of the closest stud. Or it may be passing through a stud near the outlet or switch. If you can, move away from the outlet or switch.Plus, I have not seen anything saying the Walabot will show wires, conduits, or pipes passing through a stud.There is also the caveat here, that if you live in a very old home with plaster walls, then the Walabot maybe better suited to your needs if it works through lath and plaster.Also know your home, find out where the electrical and water lines run before you go looking for studs. And use common sense, if your shower shares a wall with your bedroom, and the water handles and shower head are on the same wall, there are water pipes in that wall too.

Finds many studs. Some others are very tricky to find. It all depends of finding actual nails. We had one wall that was not original (we had a contractor wall it in) and this item had a very difficult time finding studs on that wall although they were the standard spaced studs.

I had old battery powered one and it didn’t work as good as this one. No batteries to worry about. Two powerful magnets that help find the studs and two spots that have levels. Definitely worth the buy

Es capaz de detectar los perfiles del Pladur (Tablaroca) y quedarse pegado cuando lo pasas entre 2 tornillos, el fallo que trae este que compre es que la nivelación con las burbujas no es exacta al 100, lo demás cumple con creces.

This unit is simple but gets the job done. I do handy work around the house and this fits my needs perfectly. I don't need to spot or find pipes. I just want to find a stud. This is always waiting to do the job, no need for batteries. Very effective. Excellent for the average handy man's toolbox.
