I just got this cassette recorder this morning. I already recorded an old cassette to MP3 to the included micro SD card, using the built-in digitizer. It sounds great. For fun, I inserted a 512gb micro SD card filled with FLAC music files. It read the card and played the FLAC files. The speaker isn't bad for an inexpensive portable player.I don't know how long this recorder will last, but for now, I like it.

Rarely has Amazon disappointed me as much as it did with this one. My Uncle recently passed away and I just received a treasure trove of cassettes of his original music from his wife. I purchased this so I could begin the conversion process and tonight I finally had time to sit down and start the project. First, in spite of the claim that this works with Audacity, it did not. Audacity never recognized the device. I have a project studio so I decided to use the headphone jack and put it into my Scarlett 212, which solved the Audacity issue. The first cassette, no audio. The second cassette, no audio. The third and fourth cassette, no audio. I went and got a cassette that I absolutely no has audio on it and once again, no audio. So now I'm back to square one and have to take time to take it to the one place in town that does Amazon returns and is located in the part of town with the worst parking. Total fail.

I really wanted this to be as good as it sounded. It looks much more substantial than it is. No big deal, nothing is. The price is right. I have a large number of cassette tapes I want to convert to digital format. Nothing fancy, get it into a digital format and move to the next one. The SD card looked perfect. I have not been able to get it to write to the SD card no matter how many different things I tried as set out in the manual. OK, no sweat, I'll just use the headphone cable out to the PC input. That works. It's a bit disappointing that it doesn't auto shut off after a rewind or a fast forward. It shuts off at the end of playing a tape. That's a plus. My bad for not looking to see if it did that. I'm assuming Audacity is a great program. I loaded the one included on the tiny CD. That was an adventure getting the drive to recognize the disk but it loaded eventually. I couldn't get it to produce any sound. I updated off the website. It still wouldn't produce any sound. I did all the troubleshooting I could find, it would not produce (or record) a sound. I finally loaded an old copy of a sound recording app from 2012 that I still had. Hey, it works. I can now play a tape and record to the PC and the quality is decent. It's kind of funky that you either have to have batteries in it (4 AA) or you can plug the included USB a to USB C cable into the PC. If you try running it from a phone charger you'll get all sorts of interesting sound but it isn't music. Plug it into a USB port on the PC. That will power it. It was supposed to also give you a way to get the sound out. That didn't work either. The concept of this thing is great. That's why I bought it. I need to start paying attention to the negative reviews. I basically had every problem that many others complained of. The PC is a Dell with Windows 11. I would think that's a pretty plain-jane setup. It's not that it doesn't work. It's just that it isn't going to work as you think it might. You're going to need a 1/8 male stereo plugged cord to another 1/8 male plug to get the sound down the old way. I am keeping it only because I'm hoping someone might come up with a way to actually use that SD card to record what is playing on the cassette and it is kind of pretty from a distance.

Gave as gifts to the niece and nephew - they love them! Plus it has the built in speaker - which actually sounds really good for what it is. Would purchase again (maybe for myself?)!!

The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it records your cassettes in the MP3 format onto the SD card. I prefer that it be in .wave format. However, that can be achived buy using the supplied USB cable routed into your desktop and you're then given a choice of the various formats thru the supplied software app. The quality is incredible. I then master the original content on Pro Tools. (35+ years of live band recordings made from various bands that I was a part of) You won't regret buying it.

I was digging through my basement and found a bunch of old tapes of me playing piano when I was in high school - well - I don't own a tape player anymore, but I couldn't bear to throw them away - I started researching and I'm so excited I found this product!! It works perfectly! I now have all my recordings from way back when on my computer that I can share with my kids. Can't give this product enough stars!

I purchased this item to transfer some old cassette tapes for a family member. The player is easy to use and connected to my desktop and provided a clear reproduction of what was on the cassettes.
