This is a great device for home and business use, it has good accuracy and performs its function. A similar device with a resolution to 1 lux will cost 5 to10 times as much as this device; costly ones are calibrated against a standard lab, and most costly have resolutions below 1 lux. Cheaper ones are not calibrated such.lux meters are made to approximate the brightness of light as it appears to human vision. This unit does everything that it says it will and I have to recommend it for the price. This is a no frills unit, but functions just fine. The unit does have the following features. Measurement range up to 20,000 LUX, reading hold function, adjustable range for quick easy readings, sampling rate: 2 times/sec. This light meter works just as advertised; real easy to figure out.

This item was clearly used, came with a dead battery installed. Should not come with any batteries. I still tried it out and it appeared to work fine, but I sent it back out of principle.

It does work and appears to be giving the correct result by my estimates. But there are a couple issues that show bad engineering.First, when you turn it on it gives a bogus number for a measurement (always seems to be 6 for me no matter what light is getting to it). In order to clear the measurement you have to cycle through all the ranges and then a reading that makes sense shows up.Second, it has two buttons for range control. You would think one button moves the range in one direction and one in the other. But no! Both buttons do exactly the same thing! Not a big problem but the US has nothing to worry about if this is the capability of Chinese engineering.

Solo tubo un detalle malo, la pila que deberÃa de venir en perfecto estado estaba gastada por lo que intuyo que el producto aun viniendo en el plástico lo habÃan usado con anterioridad.Funciona bien para prácticas con alumnos.

Product is exactly what I expected 5 stars. However it took 1 month for amazon to deliver it. I spent about an 1 hour talking on few occasions to customers service who couldn't work out delivery. When finally arrived battery was inside the product for some reason and it was flat. So after spending another 3 euros I make it work.

I purchased this for assessing light levels in agricultural operations (poultry barns). I have not had a chance to calibrate against another (more accurate) meter, so cannot comment on the accuracy of measurements at this point. The issue of range indication (and confusion!) has been made elsewhere, and the included battery was dead. However, the unit is light-weight and easy to use, despite the range-specification issue. Once the range issue is figured out, it should be fine and the unit seems to offer enough range to be useful in a variety of conditions from controlled dim to full sunlight. The promo picture associated with the item makes me giggle, since the sensor is shown with cover on; my pic shows unit with cover off and ready to use. The "Hold" function is of some, but limited, use; a "min-max" function would be more helpful since light levels are rarely uniform in interior applications, at least. I note the sensor has a threaded insert on the back for tripod mounting which could be quite useful. The flex-cord adds utility for the kind of applications that I use it for. Overall, I think this unit should do what it purports to do at an economical price.
