I bought this stand to save my neck when reading for law school. I needed a sturdy book stand that could handle heavy casebooks that can contain ~2,000 pages, but could also fit in a backpack easily. This stand performs admirably!I bought a larger size to handle my casebooks. The lip is large enough that the thick books stay on without slipping off, and the stand is sturdy enough to hold them up easily. It's thin and light enough to fit in my backpack or leave on a book shelf or in a locker with no issues. The back has a pretty vertical angle even on the shallowest setting – which I prefer – but don't expect to use the stand to lay the book at only a 30˚ angle etc. if that's what you're looking for. The bottom is plastic which means there is little noise when sliding this around on a desk, which is great for studying in a silent library.I don't really use the metal arms to keep the pages open, but when I have they worked fine. They aren't quite arched enough to move on and off of pages in my thickest books without (nearly) damaging the bottom edge of the paper, but for all but the thickest books they are fine. The metal is also flimsy enough that you could probably bend them to a better angle if needed. The arms have rubber tips at the end for grip that work pretty well. Because they create pressure by bending the metal of the arms, there can be some slippage or "settling" before the pages reach a position that the arms will hold them in place. (I found this usually only happens at the very beginning or very end of new, very thick books that haven't been broken in yet – like the first/last ~40 pages of a new textbook). Again, this hasn't been an issue for me at all (since the rubber tips prevent damage to the pages when this happens), but something to be aware of.My one issue with the stand is that part of the actual standing mechanism flops around when it is folded up for storage. There is a metal bar that fits into the plastic bottom to hold up the back of the stand. While the plastic bottom seems to (magnetically?) stay attached to the back when the stand is folded up, the metal bar can flop around. I found this to be annoying when trying to fit this stand in my backpack or locker, but I solved it by sticking some velcro to the bar and the back of the stand.Overall I would highly recommend this stand.

I like the width because I have a manuscript to transcribe and it's been copied two pages in landscape position. This stand accommodates that perfectly, and will accommodate so much more. The little clips that hold pages in place are extremely useful, but for the people who complain that they are too tight, please people, just release the screws that hold them in place a tiny bit. Voila! Not so tight, in case that's your issue. In addition, this is a perfect place to park a tablet or similar device, and a place to park several cellphones while charging. Lots of things can be done with this!It looks nice and eventually I'll use it to display a collectible book.Suggestion: I bought a rechargeable clip-on light in soft white with 3 levels of brightness to clip on this stand for target lighting. Love it!!! I got mine on Amazon. Stand plus light --- Might even be a great Christmas gift!I also like that the adjustable angles allow for an almost 45 degree angle so I can see the single page I will be transcribing.I can see this being very helpful otherwise, like for cookbooks, books I'm reading, medical coding books, lots of things.Like I said, sturdy, adaptable and attractive.

I've purchased many different book stands over the years looking for something that can actually hold up to regular office use. After many duds, I found this one. I have recently purchased a second one so I have one at the office and one at my home office.I do a lot of research and writing, typically using books that are about 300 pages in length with the occasional book in excess of 500 pages. All previous book stands couldn't support the bigger books. I have no problem with this one. I use it to hold books I am reading so that I don't have to spend hours bending over books on the desk. It has held everything I've put on it without any evidence of strain or weakening. One of the things I like most about this stand is the ability to adjust it's viewing angle. It can be adjusted to six different angles so depending on the light, I can always adjust it to a comfortable reading level. The arms for holding pages are long enough to work with even the thickest of books and I've never had issues with them bending out of shape or failing to flex far enough to comfortably hold the pages.I also use this stand as a document holder when I'm typing drafts of my work. It doesn't have an clip at the top to hold single sheets of paper like a traditional document holder but I usually improvise by clipping any loose pages to a legal pad and standing the legal pad on the stand.I've been very pleased with the quality and performance of this book stand and highly recommend it.

I really liked this book stand. Looks nice and well made. The only problem was that I needed a larger book holder to use with larger books. I have a 2,000 page Bible that is 2 inches thick which needed a little more support than this 13.4 inch wide book stand could support. I wish Readaeer had a 15 inch size available, but unfortunately was unable to find one listed anywhere on Amazon.

This stand has helped me to read a lot more books. I found the secret to reading more quickly is not needing to hold a book with your hands. I put this stand in a place I frequent often, the kitchen table, and drink tea and eat snacks while reading. Once I start reading, then I keep reading and in this way, have been making record progress on several thick books that otherwise would have taken months to get through. Look Ma, no hands! is a secret to more pleasurable and convenient reading. The page holders are great too, very firm and plastic padded, so keep your books stable and in good condition. I am going to buy another one for the dining table too, since I have a stack of books to read through this year!
