Designed for use with an electric hand drill, the RLMPDP is self-priming and connects to 3/4-inch standard garden hoses. Ideal for removing oil, draining sinks, water heaters, aquariums, etc. The power of this pump is directly related to the power of the drill. A 2500 RPM electric drill is recommended as battery powered drills charging capabilities can lessen over time and the drill may not perform at full expectation and could affect the performance of the RLMPDP drill pump. This pump is designed to move liquid only. Do not use it for pumping muddy water or water with solids in it.
DO NOT USE FOR TRANSFERRING FLAMABLE LIQUIDS!

Not all that happy with this. The first thing that happened when I attached my drill and spun the pump...water came out. That tells me it was a used product because I had NOT used this pump on any fluid at all. I was sitting there putting everything together before using it when this happened.I decided to go ahead and try it because I NEEDED to use it (that is why I ordered it). I can say that it is very slow...VERY slow. And if you stop the drill, you may not get the fluid to start pumping again. I do not know if it vapor locks or looses its prime...but it takes some effort to get fluid moving again. If you need to reposition the siphon hose...good luck! The shaft is fairly hard to turn. And it may take more hands than you have to operate this pump. 1 to hold the drill, 1 to hold the pump. Now, who holds the siphon hose, and who holds the outlet hose? You can NOT turn loose of the pump or it will wind everything around itself and sling anything that may be inside all over you (ask me how I know). Common sense is that you have to hold it. But with as stiff as it is to turn, it is not an easy task. It can easily slip from your grasp.I guess the fact that it had water inside when I got it set the tone for much of how I feel. But I believe it was likely returned because of the same experiences I had! It did not do much to change how I felt initially. So I am thinking it is just not a very good item to start with. Then add on that it was used, nope, I can not recommend this.

The description says self-priming, which as others pointed out is not correct. The pump does work amazingly once its been primed, but you have to work a bit to get it primed. Maybe it would self prime eventually, and the description does at least say self-priming in 25-30 seconds - which is a long time to run a pump in the first place - however it didn't seem to be priming. Not the end of the world, just make sure to pour some water in from the other end and then start spinning. It also connects directly to a standard garden hose thread, which makes is more versatile.

I expected this to pump more water per hour than it actually did. It works but it’s not intended to move lots of water in a short period of time. It is affordable though.

Not much to say -- picked up this pump to help drain a 40 gallon water heater. The pump started fine -- water flow was relatively meager. But, after 10 minutes of running, the pump stopped. Reviewing the pump, small bits of black rubber were inside, apparently from the seals on the pump. This might be fine for a very small job, but for more than a few gallons it's not worth it.

I needed an easy way to pump out a fresh water tank on a used boat I purchased. Never could get this thing to self-prime. I would not purchase again.

It wont work for my application, but that is not the fault of the product nor the seller. I will find another use for it.

First attempt, used on a battery drill operated (not recommended by red lion) worked perfectly fine though, however the pump became noticeably hot to touch after pumping only 6 gallons. Second attempt I used a corded drill with lines primed with water, 15 seconds into trying to pump water I noticed a smell of burning rubber. Sure enough pump began smoking. Corded drills are recommended however this garbage couldn't even withstand the heat being produced.Save your money!

I bought this pump to help empty the water accumulating in my boat's bilge. The usual quantity is about 3-4 liters. It does the job. I also used it to do the same with the water accumulating in my inflatable boat after a serious downpour. I estimate that there was about 10-15 gallons of water. In this case, I had to split the operation in two phases because my drill's motor and battery were heating up after 5+ minutes of constant operation. I use a Milwaukee drill with a big battery.I also bought a similar but much pricier drill pump from another renown brand to empty my fuel tank with. I tested that one with water and found that it had a significantly higher output (gpm) than this one, which puzzled me because it has a smaller body casing, which lead me to think that it operates with a smaller impeller and should therefore have a lower output, given that I'm using the same drill. The other disadvantage with this pump is that it has a sealed case which cannot be opened to maintain or change the impeller. I guess that you get what you pay for.

Used once to transport water out from a hotwater tank, much faster than let the what drain itself, worth the money.
