Accurate, steady and good quality. Much needed for dowel cuts.

Simple and effective jig. Mainly designed for 2" wide rails, but works in any situation with 3/4" stock. I used it on narrower stock by padding out the removable side clips with wood blocks and double sided tape. Worked great. It doesn't have any fancy centering clamps for the board thickness, but as long as you keep track of face sides that's not a problem. And clamp securely.

I am impressed with the overall veratility of the Rockler doweling jig. It's easy to use and as long as you take time to align your marks carefully, it produces very accurate dowel holes. I like the depth guage feature for adjusting the drill bit to the length of dowel you are using.I would have given this unit 5 stars except for the stop collar. The collar uses a set screw that you need to align on the drill bit and if not aligned properly the collar will slip out of place. Rockler should have supplied a compression collar that tightens around the entire drill bit. I happen to have a set of compression collars, so I took Rocklers stop collar and threw it in the garbage.Update 9-13-2023 The 3/8" dowel jig works fine. I wanted to order the Rockler 1/4" dowel jig and come to find out that one is not a Prime order and they want you to pay $9.99 shipping. That's rediculious Rockler. How can you ship the 3/8" jig for free and charge shipping on the 1/4" jig. What a rip off!!!

I built some bookcases and decided to use these honestly just to see how it would do. This jig is much cheaper than some that I was looking at. It was easy to line up everything and get nice precise holes just where they were needed. After adding glue and letting it sit, it's extremely solid, and the dowels can give a nice look to your project depending on the situation. Maybe it's not as nice as a jig that costs 5 times as much, but I bet you can't tell any difference in the end result. Highly recommend it!

Decent jig, but the collar for the provided drill bit won't stay in position for more than 2-3 uses before it starts to slide. I'll probably revert to using painters tape again to mark the depth.

Very easy to use. Accurate. I like the design of this doweling jig. I have 3 different types of doweling jigs. Each has their strengths and weaknesses according to design, type of joining method ex: edge, surface, T- joint. You won’t be able to do a T-joint with this dowel jig due do the design of this jig, however you can easily and accurately do surface joints and edge joints. Mark both pieces of wood to be joined with a pencil line, clamp to hold the jig in place, set depth collar. You can easily see where to set depth collar because this jig has an open window design. Drill and repeat for the adjoining wood, insert dowels and voila! Instant, perfectly aligned pieces of wood! I have no issues with the stop collar as others have stated. But I could see how if you are doing a high volume of doweling you may want a better stop collar. Otherwise, I am very satisfied with this dowel jig!
