I have a 50 to 30 amp adapter I got from Lowe's a few years ago but a friend told me how it could be dangerous to use because my travel trailer isn't doesn't to handle that kind of load. I.e. the circuit breakers in my trailer max out at 30 amps, so if there is a 50 amp surge it's way more than they are design for, and the result could be overheating, melting, or a fire. Scary stuff! This overload protector solves that problem. Any surges, this adapter stops it before it goes down the line. My old adapter is in the garbage and I'm so happy to have this!

I recently stayed at a Hipcamp with only 50-amp posts, so I ordered this adapter a few days in advance, hoping it would work. It performed perfectly! I plugged my surge protector into the dogbone adapter before connecting my standard 30-amp cord, and everything worked smoothly throughout my trip. The LED indicator is a nice feature, and I appreciate the peace of mind knowing it will shut off if the draw exceeds 30 amps. $20 is reasonable for such a handy adapter.
