Note: There is a risk of paint-shedding because of strong magnetism. Please let the Gooseneck Arms leave the base when you adjust the position. Please do not move them on the base as far as possible to reduce wear.

As far as the magnetic soldering stands go, this one has worked out great and actually is what it’s supposed to be.It’s one solid thick heavy steel plate with rubber feet, all of the accessories are attached with strong magnets, and it’s not overly expensive.I’m able to fit the whole thing in a toolbag by putting all the parts into different canvas zip pouches that I’ve found (not included, but look for a “document pouch†for the plate and the rest will fit into tool pouches). And I’ve bought some other magnet accessories from other sellers.The only real issue with this is that there’s just no way that the powder coat finish isn’t going to get scratched up somehow. You’re going to end up moving the magnetic feet around by sliding them and that will eventually cause scratches. But that doesn’t really matter since it won’t make it any harder to use.

This has a very heavy steel base with a nice finish. The arms are nicely flexible and hold their positions well. The clips are nicely made and have a smooth chrome finish. They are much nicer than the alligator clips used on most of the smaller 'helping hands' devices I've seen (and have a couple of). The magnifying glass doesn't distort. The adjustable ring light is nice. I thought I would only use it on the brightest setting, but I actually find it useful to adjust it brighter and dimmer depending on what components I'm working on and where on the board they are located. The board holders work very well. The one design change I could suggest is that the 'points' (used to hold a board by mounting holes) could be offset to one side of the post. This would allow it to hold very small boards by mounting holes. But they are still very usable.I expect that I will use it for many things beyond assembling electronics. I can also imagine people finding it useful for things like jewelry making and other small crafts.

Nicely made. All magnets have a thin shield to protect the painted steel work surface (I still would not slide the magnets).Good quality magnifying glass. Lights on the glass work well and have 3 different temperatures as well as the ability to dim or brighten the LEDs.Just a note the small circuit board holders are one piece. The points fit most mounting holes.The alligator clips are all coated and the flexible rods have a set nut that allows you to position the clip into a favorable position. Really strong magnet.

The helping hands are great. It's what you would expect. I don't think the arms are the most flexible compared to the ball joint type of helping hands. The light/magnifying glass didn't stay in its position I had and would tilt further over, out of position. The locking rings are a nice addition that allow you to move the gator clips in proper orientation then lock. The metal plate is same on both sides. If you don't like the logo that is on one side, flip it. The feet come on a paper backing for stickers, requiring you to attach them yourself. This kit will help with soldering projects and make them more comfortable. The light doesn't get ultra bright, but you can change color temperature of the light and cycle through its brightness. The magnifying glass is a bit helpful. Overall, the PCB and helping hands are a nice addition to help keep your projects in place.

I was a bit sceptical when shopping for a good soldering station but I think I scored big with this one. The bottom plate is heavy metal and the magnets are very strong. I had considered some of the 10x magnifiers but went with this 3x instead and glad I did. The 3x is plenty adequate, I think the 10x would be too strong. I expect I will be using this for a good long time.

Other review's noted,"you get what you pay for". Well, yeah. And sometimes you get more. Great customer service. Seriously good.While this little workstation may take up valuable real estate on my workbench, it earns it in it's multitasking and securing my work. The lighting in the magnifier is unexpectedly color variable which I found changes contrast on PCBs and readability. As these eyes get older, they welcome any enhancement.Yeah, about that customer service? I contacted them (shipped missing two small parts) and they got back to me so fast, I missed their reply.Once I did connect, they went way over and above my expectations of any customer service, online or local retail.Keep it up, SainSmart. You got my biz.Oh and the board works great, you make it what it is. Useful tool.

This really comes in handy! I make wire harnesses at work and it makes soldering very easy. Also the magnifying glass is great for the little numbers on connectors. The magnets are strong so the arms never move. After seeing mine the other 2 people I work with both bought thier own.

The helping hands work really well, and I have my own larger metal surface, but the sheet included is almost 3mm (wow... nice and heavy) with nice paint on it. Magnets work well for the helping hand clips, but not perfect for the magnifying glass... it topples over if it is stretched too far in one direction (expected result of laws of physics). Magnets are powerful enough to actually grab on over my silicone mat, but I cannot foresee any magnet strong enough to handle the magnifying glass stretching out too far from the base.The included light is not very bright, but not bad. I have additional light, so I don't think anyone should be working in the dark and relying just on these lights, but I am satisfied with the light in my working conditions and is great help.Overall, this is a very good product, I'm very happy with it.

finalmente un accessorio utile che mi piace avere!ho acquistato sia il kit PCBH che MCH e in generale entrambi di ottima qualità ,base e magneti dimensionati correttamente, il campo della lente lo avrei preferito di qualche centimetro in più ampio è comunque sufficiente per la maggior parte di interventi su componenti, l'illuminazione è ben equilibrata, le pinzette sono i soliti coccodrilli ma incappucciati, chissà che un giorno si trovi qualche migliore soluzione, per ora mi accontento!il supporto schede MCH è certamente ben fatto anche se al posto dei galletti preferirei un bloccaggio rapido, Bah!in conclusione, anche se costicchia, sono sodisfatto dell'acquisto.

When buying this one, I found the price a bit high. But on unboxing the product, it became pretty clear why: it's all high quality materials.The mount platform is heavy and it won't slip (rubber feet provided). It's iron cast, so works very great with the four alligator-arms and the loop-arm (which all have a strong magnet in their foot). The magnets hold the arms in their place, no way you can 'move' them accidently. It takes rather a certain amount of force to detach the magnet from the mount platform!The lens works nice and the integrated LED lights provide enough light.The alligator clips are sturdy and strong. If you need stable hands and arm that won't "move" a bit after being bend into a certain position, this product is your thing!
