The TS/R-2 remote control system was developed to provide a safe, reliable, and user-friendly remote control system for gas heating appliances. The system can be operated thermostatically or manually from the transmitter. The system operates on radio frequencies (RF) within a 20' range using non-directional signals. The system operates with one of 1, 048, 576 security codes that are programmed into the transmitter at the factory. The remote receiver operates on 4 AA batteries and houses the microprocessor that responds to commands from the transmitter to control system operation. The remote receiver has a 3-position slide switch for selecting the MODE of operation: ON/REMOTE/OFF. It can be installed in the wall behind the included faceplate, on the hearth or under the fireplace, behind the control access panel. The transmitters LCD screen displays the room and set temperature in F and C. Furthermore, this surface mounted remote can control the fireplace thermostatically or manually with On/Set/Off operation., Plastic

Used with Savanna Oak 24" vent free natural gas logs purchased from Home Depot (the best value I could find for 24" gas logs with millivolt control ~$330+tax in Feb 2015). The remote unit fitted in exactly where the wireless remote on/off control was housed in the Savanna logs so the retrofit for thermostatic control took less than 5 minutes. Programming was straight forward and effortless when following the directions. Wall mounting across the room was a simple My only remaining question is how long will the controls work until the batteries need replacement. I am hoping one season since I have installed this in a rental studio apartment. If they go one season of use, I will be more than happy. If you want to add a thermostat to your gas fireplace, I would definitely recommend the Skytech TS/R-2.

I used this thermostat for one winter on a QuadraFire pellet stove. Install was simple. The unit kept the temperatures in the right zone. Operation was fine for me (Mr Rocket Science), but was not as simple for the other half. I will retrain the other half next season. I did encounter the pellet stove not turning on. I contacted the support via email and had a response in one hour. The batteries had gotten to low and temperature communication had stopped. This forced the stove to turn off and it got cold. I flipped the override on the receiver and we were toasty again.

In the first picture the box is laying on the floor and the wires are routed up to the actual heater. You almost don't even see it.In the second picture is the heater in the back and the transmitter mounted on the left side behind the Lego houses, not visible. The thermostat is in my hand and will be mounted on the wall to my left. About 15 feet. Last picture will be the wall location.I tried this for a week before installing the thermostat permantly on the wall. It worked perfect.Set it for 64, it would cycle to 65 and turn off. Then when the temp. dropped to 62 it would kick back on.

bought this for my Jotul Lillehammer gas fireplace and installation was a breeze. Mice that it came with all batteries needed and good instructions. Mounted the transmitter to my wall with supplied screws and drywall anchors. Thank you SkyTech!

Bought this about 3 years ago to replaced a nother type of shytech unit. Full disclosure, because the other unit was skytech, i didnt have to replace all the parts. The receiver was still operational and was the same make and model of the new one so i just reused it. Although the new controler was compatiable with my gas log, i noticed that right out the box the room temp was off by about 3 degrees when compared to my home thermostadt that is mounted six inches away on the same wall (side note, the old skytech too was off by about 2 to 3 degrees) Anyway, i still used it, and it worked well, just had to get use to the three degree difference. Three years later, it starting to act funny. The set temp wont actvate the fire place unless you reset it 2 or three times. Thinking that it might be bad or low batteries, i changed them only to have the same issue. Some might ask if it had been dropped? Short answer; no... it has been wall mounted since i got it. Im a bit dissapointed since i payed over $170 dollars for this thing. I have replaced my home HVAC thermostadt for less than $70 and it works better than these skytechs for half the cost... i guess the compnay has you over a barrel because not too many companies out there making these things, so you have no choice but to use their stuff. Over all, the product lasted about 3 years and i installed it myself. I would give it one star for accuracy, (when compared to other termostats), 1 stars for quality, (since it only lasted a couple of years), one star for price!! ( I wish Honeywell made one for fireplaces), 4 stars for easy istall, and ease of operation. Take it for what its worth.. good luck.

First thermostat/remote purchase. Using it on a Martin fireplace with great results. Difficulty of installation of 5 if 1-10, just b/c I had to do some minor mods to install the off/on/remote component on the wall and 2 feet of supplied wire didn't suffice. Very easy to operate, and didn't mind that the thermostat is programmed to activate when it is 2 degrees below your set temp and shuts off the flame 2 degrees above the set temp. So if you set it at 71 deg, it will turn on at 68 deg and off at 73 deg. Haven't had the need to use the remote from the lazyboy yet, works just fine setting it while mounted to the wall and walking away. With evening temps at 38-45 deg the fireplace comes on about 3 times for mayb 20 min intervals and then shuts off. It is usually turned on at 6pm and shut off at 10pm. Had the thermostat for 3 months now and very satisfied.
