SmallRig Cold Shoe Extension 2879 is designed to hold accessories on the side of your rig when using cameras.

The durable aluminum mount allows you to add a shoe accessory without blocking any ports, controls, or slots on your camera.
It mounts onto your camera cage or rig using two captive 1/4"-20 screws, and the screws can adjust in a sliding slot from 0.4 to 0.7" apart to fit the screw threads on your rig.
The cold shoe features a stopper edge in one end to prevent your accessory from suddenly sliding out.
The cold shoe plate is made of aluminum alloy, more lightweight but durable, sturdy and solid.

Rock solid, low mounting to a rig.I wished it would've had the more robustly designed locking mechanism of other SmallRig cold shoes. I recently got the SmallRig Cold Shoe Extension (2879) for my Sony A7IV half rig, and it has been a game-changer. I was having a tough time adding a video light without it bumping into my Sony B1 shotgun mic. This little gadget solved that problem perfectly!Setting it up was a breeze. The included hex spanner and the two screws made it super easy to attach to my rig. What I really appreciate is that it extends just enough beyond the cage without blocking any of the camera's buttons or ports—so everything stays fully functional.

Bought this after I purchase the Small Rig Cage for my Sony RX 100 Vii and I have to say that he fitment is simply amazing. Very sturdy. I have installed a Rode Mic Shotgun and the Rode Wireless Go and it is simply fabulous.

This was a perfect piece to fit on the side of the small rig for the bmpcc 4k. Three screws is all I needed and it will put my rode mic off to the side. Normally, I would have put it up on top of the handle. Which looks kind of funny. but with this extension, I can place it on the right side of the camera which is much more convenient .

I originally bought the smallrig 1661 for my Sony a6400. I immediately regretted it and returned it for the CCS2310 cage. This coldshoe Mount, along with the CCS2310 cage are amazing! I couldn’t imagine holding my camera without the pair. It not only makes my screen visible with the mic attached, but it acts like a little support when holding my camera to take photos. I highly recommend this with the Smallrig CCS2310 cage for the sony a6400 camera. I’m 6’2†with extremely large hands, and this makes it really comfortable.
