I had previously been having the mountain tune my skis for my 2-3 Colorado trips every year. That worked ok, except my skis wouldn't grab in really hard snow or ice. This winter I'm living in New England & had the local mountain tune my skis twice. I still had no grip in hard snow/ice.This edge tune kit got my edges so much sharper that they now hold in everything & I don't have to worry about sliding out.The kit was easy to use & hold against the ski to get a uniform angle. I used the 3 diamond stones. I wasn't sure how the edge turned out, as I couldn't tell the sharpness with my finger, but on the slopes, it's night & day. I'll never pay to get my skis "de-tuned" again.

I can tell that this is not going to last too long. I do 5 pairs of skis every year and the sanding blocks are already almost worn out after doing the 5 pairs.Easy to use and pretty great results. Just afraid the cost savings doing it myself will be minimal.Everyone noticed their skis were sharper though so it does really work.

This is a handy tool for sharpening side edges. The side bevel angle markings are pretty accurate, but their positioning can be confusing. The markings on top of the tool indicate angles with the file inserted below them on the underside. To get an 88 degree side bevel, you insert the file/stone next to the 86 degree marking, so when you flip the tool over to use it, the 88 degree marking will be facing up on the side of the tool where you can see the edge of the file/stone. One drawback is the tool tends to rub metal particles into your bases, so you'll want to clean and wax them after use.I wouldn't recommend this tool for base edges. The .5 to 1 degree markings aren't even close to accurate, they are more like 2 and 3 degrees which is way too much for most skis. The diamond stones are a little too thin for this configuration, so you have to put enough pressure on the tool to bend the plastic slightly to get them to sharpen your base edges. Also the file/stone tends to slip out of the slot during use and put long scratches in the base of your ski if you aren't paying close attention. That being said I did use this tool a few times on my base edges and it worked OK enough except for a few scratches in my bases that were fixable with a steel scraper. I guess sharp edges with the wrong base bevel angle are better than dull edges with the correct angle. For future base edge sharpening I ordered a $55 Toko multi base angle tool that secures the file/stone in place with a thumbscrew and should have accurate angle settings from .5 to 1.75 degrees.

When I got this sharpener my first thought was, "Is this just a side edge sharpener and not a base sharpener?" It's a little confusing at first, (I'm a former flat file user), but read the directions. Don't "skim" them, read them, a couple of times, otherwise you may not like your results! Start out cautiously and slowly, but once you get the hang of this sharpener you will love it. It works very well and gets your edge very sharp. If you use all the different "grits" in the kit you will end up with a nice sharp edge! Sharp enough to cut your fingertips! Ask me how I know... I haven't used the Gummi Stone (to deburr you tips and tails) as I like my edges sharp the full length of the ski. Great product, works well, easy to pack and carry with you to the slopes.

The WORST ever! Not diamond stones. Beware! The coating or whatever it is on them wears off in one swipe down the edge. Returning

Difficile de garder droit, les pierres au diamant ne font pas dans l’aiguisage du bevel.

Just a bunch of useless pieces of plastic. Instructions don’t indicate what piece is what, nothing works together to even come close to tuning in the edges. Complete waste of time and money

Came with neither the gummy nor with any of the diamond stones. Did they forget to pack them in?As for the tool itself: compared to an extremely similar one (basically the same) by XCMAN, the finish seems to be of slightly higher quality. It should be able to get the job done for you if used with care, but may I recommend something more robust if you plan to DIY your tune ups for any significant period of time. By inserting and removing the file repeatedly, the plastic holders could get bent, and I cannot guarantee you the accuracy in the bevel angle after a couple of uses. The included instructions are a lil’ dubious; I highly suggest you do your research on edge tuning if you want to get the most out of your tools.
