This was worth every single penny that I paid for it. I could not stand watching him in his clear plastic cone provided by the vet. He was uncomfortable, it was difficult for him to eat, and he seemed really spooked by it. I bought this thinking I would only need it for two days. He ended up having to be in the cone for several weeks, and I could not be happier with my purchase. He was able to get it off multiple times, but I did keep it loose for his comfort and he is a little escape artist to begin with. He scratched at it at times and it held up just fine. He almost always got it off by accident by stepping on it. The collar can be folded down easily for eating and drinking, but I found that my cat was able to eat and drink without it. There was a major difference in his attitude and happiness once I took off the plastic cone and put this on. I also found that this was way better and more comfortable for him than the donut-shaped recovery collars, which he absolutely hated. My advice to you - size up. My cat is a male cat and is very small, and the medium was too small. I had to re-order a size large. You can always tighten it. And VERY IMPORTANTLY, DO NOT USE THE PLASTIC PIECE. Tie the strings. The plastic piece is a hazard if one or both of the strings were to get caught on something (it would continue to tighten as your cat fought to get free). I personally never had him get caught in anything, but this is still something to keep in mind.

We tried a similar product that is no longer available. This was a very similar product and serviceable. The only shortcoming was that the fabric was stiffer, and the ties were just strips of cloth rather than a smooth thicker shoelace. The sewed joint tends to unravel slightly after extended use and may need a touch up repair. It works fine and provides protection.

I used a hard plastic cone for my first cat after spaying. She was miserable and it was really stressful removing it and putting it back on (it had hard snaps) every time she needed to eat or drink water. She couldn’t really lay down comfortably either. It was heavy and she constantly bumped into things.I did research the second time around for my second cat and found this one. Total lifesaver. Comfortable, easily flips back so she can eat and drink (she can actually get to the bowl without flipping it back, albeit a little awkwardly), easy to remove/put on. Has enough tension around her (very small neck) to stay on. It does get a little dirty so maybe buy two - can wear one while you wash the other. It has a lightweight, canvas like material. Not heavy or cumbersome at all. She can reach the ends of her paws to groom but not her belly which was my only concern. She has scratched it up a bit trying to get it off once or twice so if I was going to use it again I’d probably replace it but we’re on day 7 and she hasn’t managed to get it off (very surprising because she’s like Houdini). I’ve washed it once.5 stars. Totally worth it and a lifesaver.

It was stiff and hard. Not soft and bendable.

I'm surprised by the low star rating. My cat had surgery on his chin to remove a mass that ended up being a giant pimple. $1K+ later he was determined to rub his chin on anything and everything. I was terrified he would open his incision. We tried other cones, but they were meant to stop cats from licking their hind regions and his sutures were on his face. This cone protected his chin perfectly. It is soft and comfortable enough for him to rest in. He was not able to remove it and it was easy to put on and take off. He was not able to drink or eat in it so we had to supervise him closely during his food and water breaks. He is a couple of months post-op now and doing great. His chin healed perfectly thanks to this cone. I'm saving it to use again when my fluffy void gets his trouble puffs removed next month.

Scheduled neutering for my cat, Jasper, so knew I'd be needing a cone and finally landed on this one. Thought, being adjustable and supposedly soft, this would be the least uncomfortable. Nay, nay, says Jasper. From the moment I crammed it on his head, he wailed and banged into every obstacle he could find, clawing desperately trying to free himself from this paper torture device. Within moments, he was out and giving me the evil eye. Again, I wrestled it back on, at great personal risk, tightening it as much as possible, without choking him. And, once more, my little Houdini was free and even more dangerously angry. After a cool down period (for both of us...had to bandage my battle wounds and grab a leather coat) I went back into the breach. This time he actually kept it on for a bit. Long enough for me to see we both had some adjustments to make. While wearing this, he was unable to eat or drink, nor was he able to fit into his litterbox. Thought I could remove it when I fed him, but once you tighten it and tie it off, it's next to impossible to untie. So I flipped it down and that worked ok. But, sadly, yet again, within maybe an hour, I spotted a triumphant, unfettered Jasper casually grooming himself. Reluctantly, I approached him, offending cone in hand, when I noticed a large, bleeding gouge on his neck. Not sure if he did it to himself or the cone edge did it in the struggle, but that was the last straw. Our cone adventure was over. I did immediately order one of those pillowy flower looking ones, but by the time it got here couple days later, he really wasn't messing with his wound hardly at all. When he did, I would distract him and that seemed to work just fine. Mind you, I am not suggesting you ignore your doctors recommendation, but if you find it next to impossible to keep the cone on, it might not, in fact, be the end of the world. As to the cone itself, I found it very tough to get it on, and even harder to tighten it enough to keep it on. There has got to be a better design. Its made entirely of vacuum bag-like filter paper and so doesn't really gather properly. Maybe the collar area and string should be fabric rather than paper? Anyway, it did not seem effective or comfortable, judging by the gash left behind, so Jasper gives it a hearty paws down.

This is the best cone I found for my kitten, I was able to put it down for him to eat and drink and it stayed on really well. It was easy to put on and take off but it fell apart really fast. This product would work great for a few days but if you need to keep a cone on your cat for a few weeks then you will need to order a few of these. I found it to be much more comfortable than the plastic ones and it allowed for a custom fit.

Usually Buster collars come in a pack of 10. They are supposed to be soft woven collars and the one which used to be sold by Medikabazaar was made in Belgium. This one piece is a small one and the fabric is hard and terrible . Made in China product , distributed by some Mittal industries. They don’t even accept a return !

Even though our cat disliked wearing a cone, he adjusted well with this one. He was able to eat & sleep quite comfortably. Highly recommend!

This was purchased for my adult Siamese cat, who was comfortable with it being on her. The sizing is ideal, and what I really appreciate about it is that it is a soft cone, allowing my cat to nap and relax comfortably. Other reviewers claimed that their cats scratched and damaged the cone, but that was not the case with my cat. If your cat has the tendency to damage cones, I would say purchase the hard plastic ones, rather than the one this vendor is selling. If you know that your cat is more chill and wouldn't wrestle with the cone than I would 100% recommend this product over the plastic ones!
