I've use spot welders in the distant past (80's), but they were always a large machine with a foot pedal. While they worked great, they also were industrial sized and I wasn't sure this little unit could even come close. But as I've had a growing need to rebuild old battery packs for my ham radios, I decided give it a try, and I'm glad I did. It saved me a LOT of money over buying battery packs, of which some aren't even available any longer, so it was rebuild it or toss the whole radio.Because of my past experience, I was initially doubtful that this little battery operated thing would do the job very effectively. I started off practicing on the nickel strips that came with it, by spot welding them together. I initially set it to level 5 (It goes from 1.0 to 8.0 in steps of 0.1) and immediately blew a hole through the rear piece of nickel strip. I played with it a bit, and finally settled on 3.5. Strangely, the unit refers to the levels as "gears" and then lets you fine tune each one in 0.1 increments. But if you replace the word 'gears' with 'level', you get the idea. And instead of a button of foot pedal trigger, an adjustable timer starts when you place both probes on the conductive surface, and then bammo - it sends the current through suddenly and creates the bond. I found that if I removed the probes before it was delivered, it would just stop and reset the timer. I set it to 2 seconds delay so I could make sure my probes were in the right place and the nickel strip was positioned as I wanted, but if you were doing the idential bond on multipe batteries without any changes, you could set it much faster and be just as effective.I set about rebuilding my first pack of 2/3 A ni-cad batteries. As you can see in the pics (don't mind the messy bench), you will need to put down a piece of cardboard or better yet ply wood, as the heat of the spot weld will burn the surface you are working on. I used the nickel strips to connect 8 batteries in series, then connected the whole thing to the charging ports of the pack. It took me less than 25 minutes with the spot welder, and at level 3.5 it was just right for a permanent bond to each battery as well as bonding two strips together. I did each one twice, but I'm not sure I needed to as everything worked right the first time. The batteries charged fine, and are now operating the radio perfectly. This spot welder does the job quite excellently, and once you get the hang of it it seems to handle continued usage without any problem. I never had to stop and to let it cool down. At the end of my first pack restoration, the battery level on the spot welder was still 100%, so it should handle quite a bit of work before it needs to recharge. The unit apparently doubles as a usb battery pack, but I never used it as such, so I can't comment on that.Overall, as a light duty spot welder, this thing kicks butt. I can't believe it delivers the same performance as what used to be a desk-computer-sized unit I used back in the 80's. Awesome!

Some of the reviews of these Seesii spot welders sound like I was either lucky to get an amazing gadget or they didn't know what they were doing. This little thing has done exactly what it is supposed to do very well! There are YouTube videos stressing how you must exert extremely light pressure. Other people say it doesn't work at all. None of that is true. I use the probes (usually just one) to press the little nickel strip tight against the battery since it is usually a bit bent from cutting it. Then touch the other probe near it and kazam! It is welded on! I have only run it on 4 'gear' with 2 second delay and it has worked every single time I have used it. I just replaced the battery in my cordless toothbrush. First time I used the welder other than welding a strip onto a junk alkaline battery just to test it. Worked perfectly. Then this morning I rebuilt a 10 cell NiMh Dewalt drill battery pack. I used old cells from a Roomba which appeared to have some life left in them but didn't. The 'new' battery pack won't work, but it is not because of the welder. One cell at the very tip of the pack is still the old original one since I can't get it extricated from the charge contacts. The charger won't charge it due to that bad cell, but it actually works and is running right now jumpered onto a little 12 volt fan just to see if maybe I run it down a bit the charger will be happy with it. I had charged all the cells individually on my NightCore IntelliCharger after I removed them from the Roomba battery pack and just happened to be the same size as the drill pack cells. That final cell in the charging connector is old and may have been dragging the voltage down and hopefully, that is why the charger is rejecting it. We'll see... So, I think it is a really cool gadget and will come in handy frequently in the future! If you have any need for this type spot welder, I give this one (even though it is made in China like every other one in the world) a two thumbs up endorsement. Naturally, I have only used it twice, but it appears to be well made and is in a metal enclosure which is pretty cool I was assuming it would be cheap plastic like most everything else like this.[ I bought the 11,000 mAh version (assuming that is true) because it also has a USB charging port which could likely charge my phone a couple times if needed.

I used this to rebuild an avionics emergency battery pack with fresh batteries. With minimal practice you can make factory quality spot welds. I recommend purchasing the correct nickel strips and practicing a little on old materials before spot welding anything important. Be sure to test the strength of your welds. It can be difficult to spot a weak one.UPDATEI used this product once as described above, then fully charged it as instructed and stored it and refreshed the charge every few months as instructed. When I took it out to spot weld a tab on a Li-Ion cell recently, it indicated insufficient charge. I plugged a charger in and the charge state went from low to full charge in three seconds. Knowing this was likely an indication of a faulty battery, I tried to use it and got the same low charge message. I repeated this cycle many times with the same result. The battery or possibly the circuitry are definitely faulty but the instructions on the return process are poorly translated. No website, contact information, or even a return address are provided on the instruction booklet.

I bought this last year to repair a few batteries. It works quite well. As long as the nickel strips are within .15mm . When I tried to well the strips on a Milwaukee high power M18 , it didn't work and I thought the welder was bad. But after reading the specs again and some research I realized the Milwaukee strips were .3mm and the welder was not powerful enough. Not the welders fault as they do advertise it's limited to .15mm. So if you stick to the specs , this is an excellent unit. The units that handle above .15 cost at least twice as much. So if you want to weld the .3 then expect to pay more.

Does what I need it to do. Lots of practice should give you decent results with proper nickel strip. If it doesn't start due to low battery, it can be reset or worst case, charge with a good charger after opening it up CAREFULLY of course.

I was really skeptical that the power of a spot welder could be placed in this small package, but it works just fine. I'm amazed, really. The LCD screen is a big plus because you always know the welder's status. Low power is enough for many jobs. Level 3 will melt small gauge wires. I've never used it above that setting.

What a great little welder. It seems like it's designed to spot weld battery assemblies, and nickel strips are even included in the kit.I have a glass top stove with a defective burner - one of the ribbon elements separated from its power post and the burner didn't work - $200 for a replacement. I paid half that for the welder and reconnected the element to the post. That was about 6 months ago and it still works great. This is one application where soldering wouldn't work because of the high heat when the burner is operating.I don't know what else I can use this thing for but it's already paid for itself.
