It effectively drives small headed nails to desired subsurface levels. I've also used it to set large nails back into boards.Pros:1. Small and light - more convenient to store and transport than a hammer (easy to keep in a pocket).2. Much more precise application of force than a hammer (good on both small and large nails).3. Avoids leaving big dents in wood, which is common with hammer strikes.4. Very solid build quality - I feel like this thing will last a lifetime.5. Very fair and affordable price.Cons:1. Requires two hands to use, which is less convenient than a hammer.2. Only a little better at operating in tight spaces than a hammer.3. Can't strike nails as quickly as a hammer (maybe with more practice). It's worth buying.

Got this to stake castle nuts on ARs. It works great and looks much nicer than I could ever do with a hammer and punch. Two whacks, maybe three is all you'll need and you can aim it perfectly. Highly suggest getting one for this purpose if you're considering it.

This item is a great little tool, easier than a traditional nail setter. Does not need the hammer at all. One side makes a divot to starts a nail/screw or just mark a drill hole, the other can be used to sink pin nails or finishing nails with out needing a hammer. Just hold the one side and pull and release the other. The spring causes an impact that does just the right amount of force.Only down side is you need to hold the one side firmly so it does not hop or skip when you are using it. This is likely user error though and just getting used to the tool. No more hitting you hand with the hammer.

This is one of the handiest little tools. It is definitely hardened steel and will easily mark and center punch mild steel as well as 'bite' a bit in nail heads when driven which keeps it on target and from slipping or the point from doming. It is just as easy as using a regular nail set but with added precision and the bonus that you can use it in places you can't swing a hammer.

I've seen this on YouTube for awhile now and figured I'd give it a try after seeing the reviews on project farm, so after using it I can say, it works great but it takes a bit of use to get good at using it, my first instinct was to pull the spring too far back, that makes it hard to use and keep on target. This tool hits harder than you expect, after a bit of use you can keep good control of the way it works. It's handier than using a punch and a hammer.I definitely recommend giving it a try, I know I'm glad I did.

This is a brilliant tool that is well built and easy to use. I have purchased 4 of them at this point 2 of them for other people. makes nail setting or making dimples for drilling through metal a breeze.

Spring tools 32R02 nail set and counter punch is a brilliant way of knocking in nail gun nails that pop up now and again, well made, strong, and sturdy a must for tool box.

I was somewhat skeptical however after using it to sink some proud 18 guage nails that the nailer didn't fully sink... it's quick and handy to keep in the tool pouch. The spring packs a surprising amount of force. 2-3 whacks and the nail is set a solid 2mm below the surface ready for filling. Beats a hammer any day. Love the close quarters use-ability. Don't have to carry the hammer in the tool belt, less weight, happier me.
