Living here in Las Vegas is extremely dry with humidity levels as low as 7%. Guitars need to be at 40 - 60 % These two way humid packs are the best way to achieve the proper humidity levels.

UPDATE: After seeing my review the seller reached out to me and offered a full refund. So I updated my rating to reflect the stellar customer service. Although I am using the Boveda system currently I may give them another try in the future. My understanding is that these types of packs start out soft and gradually harden to the point they need to be replaced. That was how the Boveda system works. While these look exactly like the Boveda system these were semi hard right out of the box and ineffective. Don't waste your money and buy a name brand system.

I didn’t realize living in a dessert and having a humidifier in my home wouldn’t be enough for my guitar. It ruined my guitar. The local guitar shop recommended this and a nice guitar case. I ordered both and from Amazon and after 6 months no issues. Seems to be working perfect!

I used these in my Martin HD-28E from the day I got it and in four months it ended up splitting the top seam. The hydrometer said the humidity in the case was in the 40% rage but no moisture was being added to the wood. I recommend the sponge style humidifier, they put actual moisture into the wood.

I'd only used Boveda packs in the past, and they had been relatively effective. I use three packs in each of my six guitars, and all guitars are kept in cases with a hygrometer. However, after not changing packs for 1-2 years, the hygrometers in a few cases had started reading outside my target range (45%-55%). The studio humidifier usually keeps the room humidity above 40%, but not always. I do not have a room dehumidifier, and the room humidity can sometime rise to more than 70%.So, I tried the Starfavor packs to see if they were better. I replaced the oldest Boveda packs in 3 guitars. After a few months of extreme humidity swings (very dry and very humid) the Starfavor packs did not perform as well as the old Boveda packs in the other three guitars.I don't know if it's normal, but all the Starfavor packs were pretty hard. With the Boveda packs, this means that the pack is no longer any good. Perhaps I got a bad lot.In any case, I have replaced the packs in all my guitars with new Boveda packs, and all hygrometers are again reading within my target range.

It has been a cold and very dry (20%) winter, and these were not able to keep the humidity in my guitar case up to even 35%. Better than nothing, but inadequate. Also the design made it difficult to get the case out from the sound hole.

The product did not have a detailed explanation of how it would work or even is supposed to work. The humidity was too low to start, so I added a sponge-type humidifer to the guitar case for one day. That raised the humidity too high. After removing the sponge, the Starfavor maintained the humidity between 45 and 49% for weeks (so far!).
