This stud finder works by detecting density changes in the wall. Our stud finder adopts the UPGRADE SENSORS to get the greatest accuracy. Moreover, this wall scanner can also help you avoid drilling or hammering into water pipes or electrical wires.
Before there were stud finders, people have 2 methods to find the stud : 1. Pounded a small nail into the wall until you hit a stud; 2. Use a small pivoting magnet. However, the first one damages the wall and the second magnet technique is too backward.
The Electronic stud finders changed all that. Our electronic stud finders gives you an amazingly accurate view into the wall and show you exactly where each stud is.

This stud locator has 3 stud scan modes. Deep Scan Mode scans through 2 layers of drywall up to 1.5 in. (38 mm) deep. Deep Scan is a higher sensitivity scanning mode that should be used when there are extra layers of wallboard or paneling. To minimize false positives and/or finding other objects further behind the wall that may not be a stud, always start your scan in Stud Scan first.
This wall scanner will locate metal studs in StudScan, DeepScan, and Metal Scan Modes. Since our stud finders are looking for a change in density behind drywall, not a particular material, in StudScan and DeepScan Modes the detector will react to metal studs the same as it would for wooden studs.
After you detect the center of a object, Please Use Metal Scan to determine if the previous reading in Stud scan was a wood stud, metal stud, or pipe.
Wire Warning detection indicates the presence of live, unshielded electrical wiring up to 2 inches (51 mm) deep. For Safety, in all modes, this wall scanner always detect and indicate the Live AC Wire.
Note: WireWarning Detection works in both StudScan / DeepScan / MetalScan Modes. The WireWarning Detection Icon will flash when live, unshielded wires are detected.
Our stud finder is perfect for normal scanning of drywalls and finding joists, beams, and studs in almost all types of walls, such as finding studs in the drywall, plaster wall; finding the beams in the ceiling, floor, locating metal behind walls or other surfaces, even locating metal/screws behind tiles.

Note:
1.This stud finder can quickly locate metal, studs, joists, pipes, live AC wire behind all kinds of walls floors and ceilings but except the cement board wall and brick wall. You can use it on popcorn ceilings, plaster walls, textured surfaces, drywall, etc.
2. Please note: The 9V battery is included in the package but not in the device.
Step 1: Calibrate the tool before every scan
Place the whole device against the wall, then press and hold the calibration button( on the side of the tool) to calibrate this tool. Wait for the reducing bars to disappear and beep to confirm calibration has been completed.
Step 2: Scan the wall
After finishing calibration, please release the calibration button. Then move the stud finder along the wall slowly, if you shake or lift the scanner accidentally, the device needs to be re-calibrated.
Step 3: Find the location of the stud
When the signal bar is full and the beep alarm is loudest, it means you have found the center of an object. Mark it with your pencil.
Then choose the Metal Scan mode to test whether it is a metal. After you confirm that it is not a metal, it means that you found the center of a stud. (More details refer to the above description of "Metal Scan Detection")Then you can drill it to hang the thing.

A bit difficult to use but after several trials, it worked as expected. This was confirmed by drilled test holes to be sure the stud was behind the drywall at the marked location. It was spot on. Hung a display case with no issue. Fully "loaded" it weighs about 25 pounds.

Great stud finder. Haven't had an issue. Light weight, good cost and hasn't been wrong yet. I additionally bought a magnet to find the stud nails, which helped me avoid needless damage to the wall. Highly recommend this stud finder

Excellent stud finder. Much easier to use than my old one. Very accurate. Pinpoints the edges and the center of the studs. Can locate wiring in the walls, which is a great safety feature.
