About this item

  • SV128 polarizing filter will fit all standard sized 2" eyepieces and accessories
  • Used for viewing the Moon and Planets
  • SV128 polarizing filter consists of two polarizing filters; One can be rotated in its cell to adjust the brightness
  • Finer control of the image brightness compared to a standard fixed-transmission telescope filter for optimal performance
  • Progressively dim the view when observing a bright object; Such as the moon or certain planets
  • Rotating cell allows you to adjust the amount of light transmission from 1% to 40%
  • SV128 2 inch variable polarizing filter acts like a dimmer switch for your telescope
  • You can reduces brightness of the Moon or planets for great clear viewing
  • Made of HD optical glass; Good level of transmittance; Premium quality metal rim and optics glass lens
  • Sturdy plastic case included for better tightness;avoiding fall or loose

Product Description

SV128 Variable Polarizing Eyepiece Filter for Viewing the Moon and Planets

Variable Polarizer Lens Filter

Reducing the amount of light entering the eyepiece increases the contrast between the moon and the star, allowing you to see more details about the moon and the stars.

Note: Do not look at the sun with SV128 Variable Polarizing Filter. You would be blind if you fail to observe the warning.

Use SV128 Polarizing Filter’s effect

 Telescope Eyepiece

Prevent excessive exposure

Telescope Eyepiece

Reduction of clear image eliminating reflection

SV128 Telescope Filter Polarizing Filter

Increases the contrast between the moon and the planets

 Telescope Eyepiece

Increase the sky color saturation

SV128 Variable Polarizing Filter

Reduces brightness of the Moon or planets for great clear viewing

Reduces glare, increases contrast and maintains night vision.

Good for observing details on bright objects such as the Moon or certain planets.

A Variable Polarising Filter is essentially two polarising filters, one screwed into the other. Simply rotate one in its cell to reduce brightness from 40% down to as little as 1%.

The filters can also be used individually for terrestrial daytime observing to reduce sunlight glare from lakes, oceans or window glass.

I was shopping for a 2 inch Polarizer for my 127mm Maksutov-Cassegrain and the SvBony filter was just what I needed. It is well constructed and the visuals of the Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn are incredible. Glare is reduced and contrast has increased. The reviews and pricing was a selling point to purchasing this filter. I highly recommend this filter and seller.

I'm very impressed with this SVBONY variable polarizing filter. When I got into astronomy decades ago, I needed an entire set of fixed polarizing filters for different uses and conditions. This filter has become my "one size fits all" polarizing filter solution! It's not only great for 'dimming down' the very bright moon (of course) but works great for bright planets like Jupiter and for solar astronomy -- when using an over the aperture optical grade solar filter. I particularly enjoy solar astronomy and this variable filter not only helps bring out planetary features like the bands of Jupiter but features of the sun like sunspots and faculae. It also works very well when using an eyepiece projection into a camera (or even a smartphone, like I use). Important: NEVER use a camera or look at the sun through a telescope without using an optically rated, over-the-aperture solar filter (as shown in my photos).Yes, it' is somewhat inconvenient to remove the eyepiece in order to make adjustments, but it's not nearly as inconvenient as removing the eyepiece, unscrewing a filter of a specific percentage, screwing in a different fixed percentage filter, then putting the eyepiece back in … only to do it all again if the fixed percentage filter you choose was still not right for the application. The range of percentages on this SVBONY variable polarizing filter is great, the filter's optical quality seems excellent and it's adjustment is very smooth. This is my first SVBONY product purchase, but certainly not the last.

Very good. Could have had a little Knurling to aid the functional use in rotation.

I had a friend recommend this to me when I was viewing Jupiter. Without it I was not able to See see the bands of Jupiter. This is my go to filter for lunar and planetary viewing. I love the variable polarization. I only have to use this one filter for multiple targets. Just pull the eye piece and adjust for the contrast you would like. No more fiddling with different filters. I recently upgraded to 2 inch eyepieces so I purchased the two inch version also. SVBONY Has great products at an affordable price. I have many of their eye pieces a dew heater and Phone mounts and haven't had an issue with any of them.

Variable filter for observing bright objects in the night sky like the moon and planets. The variable darkness makes this ideal for all levels of filtering needs.

Used this filter with Explore Scientific and Baader 2” eyepieces; it fit both perfectly. Twisting the filter to adjust it has some resistance so that when you screw it onto the eyepiece it doesn’t change your setting.

At low, medium and high polarizing settings it does not appear to harm the clarity of the view. Just does its job of reducing light. Very happy with it for the price.
