Your cart is empty.This is a well-made and economical marking/cutting gauge. A wheel marking gauge is an indispensable tool used in the shop to lay out precision woodworking joinery. The sharp hardened high speed cutting wheel will leave a sharp and distinct line in soft and hardwood both with and across the grain. The 1-9/16 inch diameter by 1-3/16 inch tall head is precision machined from solid brass (not plated!). The ergonomic brass head fits perfectly in the hand providing precise control. The knurled thumb screw is also solid brass and securely locks the head to the beam holding measurements. The head has a countersink so the cutter can be fully retracted protecting it when not in use. The wheel cutter is 7/16 inch in diameter. The gauge comes fitted with a cutter and two extra cutters are included. The cutter can be easily resharpened by rubbing the flat surface on any sharpening media. Replacement cutter are also available. The black chrome hardened steel beam is .310 inches in diameter and 8 inches long. Maximum cutting depth of the gauge is a full 7 inches. The beam contains mm and SAE graduations. Graduations allow easy setting of the gauge and extend to 150 mm or 6 inches. This tool has excellent mass and weighs in at 6 ounces. This wheel marking gauge will provide years of accurate and reliable performance in the shop.

Sometimes you pay a little extra for a tool that is just, well, solid. I don't know exactly how to describe it. Not only does it get the job done, but it just feels nice while you are using it. The perfect heft, feels like it will last a lifetime, and looks nice to boot. That is what this is. Taytools Wheel Marking Gauge.

The price is right because you are not paying for useless features. This is an elegantly simple device which does one or two things very well. Would I prefer a more expensive model with features I will never use? Maybe, but just for bragging rights. When it comes right down to it, this thing could not be improved. It does what it is supposed to do without being cluttered up with features you will never use.

Solid piece of metal and you can feel the weight. Only complaint would be how it goes from loose to tight really fast, so can be a little tedious occasionally. Love the tool though, i recommend getting one if you're thinking about it. I use it for many more things than you would imagine using it for.

I bought this model because I couldn't get assurance on the Black colored models that the black wouldn't abrade off. I think these, models with a natural silver colored shafts, are just a bit more difficult to read but I think this given model does a great job of etching the measurements into the shaft. Plus, the measurements are dead on.I had purchased a $32 model and I much prefer this one. Plus it saved me close to half what the other one would cost. On top of that this one is sharper and it locks down much more securely. It does have a smaller wheel if that matters to you. I prefer it smaller because it is closer to the surface I'm marking.

Quality guage, nice and heavy. But can't read the numbers due to very little contrast. Gray numbers on chrome shaft.
