The principle that these strips of plastic use to find the center of a board edge is nothing new, and I imagine the Greeks were using something similar thousands of years ago. Yet, they work with all the accuracy you could want. No fumbling with a ruler or tape measure. Just pick the right length for the width you are measuring and mark it. As a burgeoning woodworker, I find that such gadgets make everyday tasks so much easier.

As soon as i received the center finder-marker set, i started using it to accurately mark centers of wood pieces for cutting with a hole saw. This simple and accurate gadget set replaces measuring in two places, marking, and checking. For my needs right now, the 4†piece is most useful. The other sizes would be for a different project.

They'll work just fine. Multiple sizes will give you a wide range of wood widths you can use these on. They lose one star for being made in China. They're a simple enough design that they could easily be made in the U.S., even on 3-D printers. It's not like they're going to sell millions of these so the domestic labor cost savings would offset the shipping costs from half a world away. But if that doesn't deter you. You'll find them to be just fine.

These are okay for the price but they're not that easy to keep in place to get a reliable line. The little gauge is marked in a rather confusing way - it's hard to see which measurement applies to each step.

This little thingy is really great for finding the centers of boards quickly - the downside is it doesn't reach all the way to the end of the board - one needs to get the square out to finish the line - but overall it is awesome and good value for quick markups

A very handy tool you must have , This is a tool that you never need until you do and so happy you have them lol.

The design is simple and effective, however, there is no cup or guide to help hold your pencil. You'll have to figure out how to both twist, drag, and awkwardly balance a pencil trying to use this. If they'd add a pencil guide cylinder this would be perfect for quickly marking center of larger boards of unknown width up to and including 2x6's. I'm all for having to do less math and fusing with straight edges.
