I loved not having to dip my arm into a gross skimmer housing to retrieve my basket. The handle height was perfect for my application, and because it’s easier than ever, I even find myself cleaning out my skimmer basket more frequently, which is good. With the skimmer basket socks, I find that my basket collects a lot more fine particulate debris than before, preventing even more gunk from ever reaching my pump and equipment. Overall, it’s a very useful product that saves me time and helps me to keep my pool cleaner. Would buy again!

Our property is simply surrounded by oak trees so I learned quickly after moving here that a skimmer sock was a necessity. When we bought the house there was a basket with no handle in the skimmer and I had bought a replacement somewhere with the bucket-style loop handle. Pretty flimsy basket though, and less than a year later the handle broke off. I knew fancy third party handles were a thing so I went online to look at reviews. The problem with the handles that connect in the middle of the basket is how to use it with a sock, no way I was detaching and reattaching the handle every time (I am currently changing the socks everyday as a lot of dirt is winding up in the pool and the socks get very dirty very fast). I found this one and took a chance on it, got the longer one so I don't have to bend down as far (measure the space from the bottom of your basket to the skimmer lid to make sure you have enough room). I installed it on the basket that had come with the house as it was a heavier plastic. I had trouble getting the handle to lock into position over the net at first and thought there was something wrong with it. In frustration I really force-turned the handle and it suddenly went and I figured I'd broken it but no, it was fine, and now it goes on easily. I guess you have to kinda break it in a little. Just wanted to mention that in case anyone else has trouble. Anyways it works fine, I like it. I am unfortunately starting to develop holes in my socks after only a couple week's use (meaning only two uses per sock as I wash them weekly) but I guess the socks should still work even if they rip a small hole in the bottom. I suppose it's possible that using this and changing socks frequently will necessitate buying replacement socks periodically.

My first Sock Lock handle did not make it through the cold season. Purchased it in May and it broke in the cold of December when the basket was filled with heavy leaves. We run our pool 24/7 and don’t close it so that means we have to empty the skimmer quite a bit Nov-first half of January. This is my second Sock Lock because it does make it much easier getting the basket in and out. Who wants to reach through spiders, leaves and bugs? Not me. This works well, just isn’t heavy duty.

I used one of these for years and LOVED it. But the last time I tried to remove it with a clogged basket and ALOT of suction, I broke the handle. My fault and no fault of the product. I ordered a new one, (this one) I notice some major improvements from previous item. A stronger handle, it is now weighted, and comes with a shim in case you want to use it without a skimmer sock. To me, using it with a sock is a strong selling point. I can change use a sock and change it at will with this. Other copy cat products don't allow the use of a sock at all. GREAT PRODUCT!

This device is absolutely the best! Every year when we open our pool, I dread cleaning the skimmers. Reaching my hand into cold mucky water is just gross. But with this, my hands stay dry and clean. Use it with skimmer socks, and it makes emptying skimmer baskets quick and easy. I am so happy with this purchase. I bought 2 of the XL for our in-ground pool, and they work great. Very easy to install too. Highly recommended.

I had my eye on these after our first season with our pool but didn’t think they would be worth it. After losing the little metal bars that go on the baskets over this last winter I thought that was a good excuse to try these. We use hairnets with our baskets and have to change them twice a day during pine pollen season. These handles make it sooo easy to do that! I was able to easily attach the base myself, not sure why the one reviewer had to put it off center, there are so many holes to choose from, haha. I bought one to start and although the handle didn’t seem to lock in place I thought it was good enough and so much better than grabbing onto the basket with spiders all over it. The second one I ordered locked on perfectly. I sent the seller a note and they said to try adding the second little rubber gasket that came with the handle to see if that would help and if not they would send a new one. It didn’t help but I did try to attach it after removing both gaskets and it locks on like a charm! I can’t believe I went two seasons without these handles! So happy to support this business!

After a full year of use, I have mixed feelings about the Skimmie Sock Lock. On the positive side, I loved the convenience of the removable handle, especially for attaching my vacuum hose effortlessly. The built-in weight was also a nice touch, preventing the basket from floating up.However, my experience took a downturn when the screws holding the base to the basket snapped off. Unlike other products, there’s no option to simply replace the screws, which was disappointing. I wish they had designed it with repairability in mind, as the handle itself was sturdy and durable.Overall, while the Skimmie Sock Lock has its perks, the lack of repair options for such a crucial part diminishes its long-term value.*Update*: I ended up giving the product a second chance and ordered another one to replace my original. I was very excited to see they changed the design of the base. The screws are now separate from the base. You can replace them easily now. The screws were not long enough to fit through my skimmer basket, so I used my own screws. I did notice the quality of the plastic did get a small downgrade in this new one and the handle does not take a full quarter turn to lock.

No more having to put your hand in amongst the debris and bugs to pull out the skimmer basket. This is a great product, I’m glad I was able to order it!Don’t believe the review that the unit broke, anything will break if not treated with care. it is sturdy and does exactly what it promises. I highly recommend this product.

Excellent invention for use with skimmer sock - replaced flimsy skimmer basket handle which broke in first season. This Skimmie Sock Lock is durable, keeps the sock in place and makes removal and replacement much easier

If you own a pool you know; once in a while you find a product that is a game changer. This was that for me. I do not like bugs or yucky stuff and so sticking my hand into the skimmer to try to pry out the basket (handle fell off long ago) was horrible. (1) This device has a weight at the bottom. The skimmer basket that came with my pool had a built in weight, so this device wouldn’t fit on it. Rather than trying to take apart my skimmer basket, I just went and got a new skimmer basket with no built in weight. Then it was a breeze to attach this device.(2) when the package arrived the bottom wasn’t sealed properly, so the 4 tiny screws that came with the product fell out. Had to find new screws. Wasn’t hard but was annoying.(3) I ALWAYS use a skimmer sock (a hairnet) and this works perfectly with the hairnet, no problem. What more can I say, it’s a great product and I am shocked that pool companies don’t try to sell it to you. It’s so helpful and useful. I wish i had known about it before. Along with skimmer socks it’s a real game changer for pool ownership.

Great idea that does what it’s supposed to. Nice not having to get on hands and knees or reaching through critters and debris to clear basket. Actually works a lot better than lifting out with the standard brittle basket cross-member/handle that tends to break anyway. Works well with the filter saver sock. Would have given five stars put still seems a bit pricey for a plastic handle. Guess I’m paying more for the idea and design LOL.
