My son needed a specific thermometer for a school science project and this was the one! It's worked perfectly. It came in a plastic protective tube, which is great because something like this is very fragile.

The thermometer consistently reads 9-10 degrees high. I tested it numerous times. Sitting immersed to the correct line in ice water, where I left it for 30 minutes, it never dropped below 40°. In room temp liquid that measured 71° degrees it never dropped below 80°.

Well built thermometer flawless and accurate . Much better than h-b brand. More accurate and no air bubbles in glass. Would buy again .

Edit:Previously I stated that this thermometer was reading about 10 degrees low.I decided to test it in boiling water at my home 1425 feet above sea level. Distilled Water should boil at about 209 F at this altitude. It read about 210 after I removed the heat. which is pretty darned close.The problem for me is that I am trying to read air temperature in a sauna. It takes a very long time for this thermometer to come up to temperature in the air. This is not a fault of the thermometer.If you are using this for it's intended purpose, it should serve you well.Likes:Quality made item.Easy to read.Arrived quickly and undamaged.Thermometer has a certificate of traceability to NIST and a serial number.Dislikes:The thermometer is slow to respond to air temperature, but responds quickly to liquid temperature.

Pretty far from accurate. Purchased two. One is about 3. deg. C. low, the other is about 2. deg. C. low. They come with a rediculous cert. which claims that they're calibrated and tested against a NIST-traceable standard. Why ship them out when they're so far off? Will not purchase any more. They should be within 1. deg. C. or less, period.
