I bought two of these thermometers. Out of the box, one thermometer had a reading that was 12 degrees lower than the other. I thought this was odd. I placed them next to each other, on an even surface away from the sun or any other heat source, and left them there for three days. Every day, one thermometer consistently read twelve degrees less than the other. My picture shows one thermometer at 49 and the other at 61.This is obviously not an acceptable tolerance. Very disappointing.

While not a necessity this thermometer is a welcome edition to my hiking and backpacking kit. Its nice to know the temps and this is much easier to read than the zipper pull type most often used by others

Not very accurate. I wouldn't recommend it for this reason.

These are great quality! They are a little but difficult to read in regard to the tiny lines between the tens, but I'm not sure how it could be improved. I use these with my students and I love how although requiring careful handling as they are glass, they are thick and feel sturdy.

It's a Liquid-in-glass thermometer. The temperatures are painted onto the glass and it's armored, I have it dangling on my pack for hiking and it's within about 2 degrees of actual. If you're looking for a simple and reliable method of telling the temperature while out on the trail look no further.
