About this item

  • Durable carbide steel cutting wheel outlasts conventional cutters

Improved Design The Custom Grip Supercutter with an adjustable grip handle, improved spring-controlled oil flow system and proven TAP Wheel technology, now features a new, larger saddle The four-position saddle is adjustable for all hand sizes, relieving hand fatigue. Placed between the thumb and forefinger, the saddle allows the fingers to remain straight which will reduce the strain while scoring. The unique, patented cutting wheel improves axle lubrication and reduces rolling friction producing a cleaner score, which will give you a better edge and easier breakout. Note the Custom Grip does not use the standard Toyo Replacement Head. Use Item #5201 Replacement Head for Custom Grip Supercutter. In six distinctive fluorescent colors, the lightweight clear acrylic grip lets you see how much oil is in the reservoir. Sorry, cannot specify choice of color. Sold individually. Developed 30 years ago, Supercutters outlast other cutters by up to 25 times Toyo's Supercutters live up to their name. Comfortable to hold and easy to use, each cutter is self-oiling (when pressure is applied) for a free rolling wheel and consistent score line. The wheel is made of durable, replaceable carbide steel that outlasts conventional cutters. Delphi Tip: To prevent leaking, use only a few drops of oil in your cutter before each use.

Cutting blade stayed sharp throughout our project. The design allows you see exactly where you are cutting allowing you to cut close to the pattern lines.

UPDATED REVIEW: I have now had this glass cutter for 11 months, and I dropped my rating down from a 5 to a 3. In the past I had never kept oil in any of my glass cutters, because most of them leaked. I added oil to this one, because of all the great reviews I read about this cutter. Well, today I went to use this cutter...which has been my new favorite for almost a year now, and it fell apart in my hand. All I did was grab it and try to put some pressure down on the tip. The middle section (called the adjustable saddle) actually broke apart, as did a piece of the top of the oil reservoir where the oil cap screws on. See additional pictures I just added for more information. Don't get me wrong, I still highly recommend this cutter, I just DO NOT recommend that you add any oil to the oil reservoir. Keep some in a little cup and dip it in it.Contacted manufacturer on 3-28-17 and they got back to me right away. Toyo is replacing this cutter at no cost to me. Fantastic customer service! One of my favorite glass cutters! I love how easy this is to use. It sits so easily in my hand and is very easy to cut glass with. Cuts like butter! Definitely recommend this cutter to anyone, especially anyone who has a hard time holding bigger cutters, because of carpal tunnel issues or pain in your fingers from arthritis.I had carpel tunnel release on both hands back in 2005 but I still have pain & numbness in my hand & fingers...which causes me to not be able to hold the bigger cutters well, or hold the other cutters in my hand in other ways. This cutter works wonders for the pain I experience in my hand. So glad I checked it out. Love mine!

I love these particular Toyo cutters. I have severe osteoarthritis in my hands and can’t make a fist (grip) anymore. Stained glass keeps me grounded and sane so these are a lifesaver for me. They cut better and I have more control of every aspect of the cuts. Everyone would appreciate the ease of use and lack of hand fatigue with this Toyo cutter. BUY IT; TRY IT

This is a good glass cutter, as it makes it extremely easy to get the correct, consistent pressure required to cut various glasses. Now, it's not too hard to use a standard pencil grip cutter, but this relieves all strain from your fingers, and allows you to focus on getting good angles instead of trying to keep constant pressure while fighting fatigue. I can cut around 4 times as fast, because it is so much easier, and there is a lot more control. It's possible to guide this with a finger on your other hand, or just with a slight wrist motion --- which can't really be done well with other cutters, at least I've always had to move my whole body or arm to get good cuts. For smaller cuts/angles, the brass piece can be turned some 45 degrees to help guide the cutter, which is nice for doing things like circles. There is one small problem, and that is the grip positioning for the thumb/forefinger webbing. It's just not quite the right spot for me, and I find that it is either too close to the cutter, and my knuckles will be against the pivot, or it will be too far away, where I can not quite reach the textured metal grip near the tip. It's important to reach the tip, and keep it steady because it will rotate as you cut (also, you can rotate it to get a better cut). It really would have been much better if the brass/textured grip went up all the way to the black grip. I don't feel that we need a clear reservoir, and I would happily give that up for a better textured/weighted surface. Also, of every random color, I received pink. I knew that I would receive pink when ordering it, because that's just how these things turn out... so having brass to the handle would solve that problem also.

I have large hands, and wanted a cutter I could have fine control with, that made good cuts. That is exactly what I got. The grip has 4 different positions, unscrewing the oil cap you will find that the palm rest has a spacer, and you can put the tab in two positions, and the spacer in two position, making for 4 different heights for the rest. Adjust that grip to accommodate your comfort with the tool. I also found that I could mount the head more solidly bu loosing the set screw, and not using the cut-out to park the set screw, you can improve your ability to steer the cutter on curves. But be sure to manually oil the wheel when you have the head locked in a manner that stops the oil pump from working.

I’m new to mosaics. I had previously purchased a ‘hobby store’ brand cutter. It wasn’t working, I couldn’t understand why it wouldn’t score properly. Then I purchased this amazing cutter. Wow! It’s like night and day. I can easily score the glass without pressure, nor splintering or breaking the glass elsewhere. It is saving me money because I am no longer messing up the pieces I’m working on.I really like the grip. It saddles between the thumb and index finger so little pressure is needed.I’m truly happy I purchased this top notch product.

The shape makes it very easy to hold . It cuts glass with little effort. Curves are easy to cut. I recommend this glass cuter over the traditional « pencil » cutter

I got my Toyo cutter within a few days and am very happy with it. I’d been using a few pencil cutters and none worked.

idk why i bought this but anyone of the 20 dollar ones can do the same thing but the extra grip is a plus not a big learning curving switching between the two for stained glass
