This is a very well made chain hoist that comes with a pouch that makes is much easier to transport. I actually use this as a winch for pulling lawn equipment up onto a trailer. It works really well for that purpose. Quality is excellent and I do think this would lift 550 lbs despite it's small size.One thing to note is that this is a lever-style hoist, so you need to be able to reach the lever to ratchet the load. If you are hanging this from the ceiling to lift straight up, you'll need to be able to reach the ceiling to lift. Not at all a problem - just something to be aware of before you order.This has earned a place in my toolbox and I am glad to have it. If you need a compact and sturdy lever-style hoist I would definitely recommend it.

This is a useful tool for lifting or pulling heavy objects like landscaping boulders, tree stumps, logs and engines.This small hoist comes with a storage bag the size of a loaf pan and fits the entire hoist plus the chain and two metal hooks inside. The small size makes it easy to setup, but is still rated to 1100 pounds.Wrap a strap around the load, attach the hook at the end of the hoist's chain to the strap, switch the dial to release the lock on the chain, walk the hoist over to your mounting point and attach the other hook to it, switch it to the pull setting, and use the lever to pull the load.
