Bought this for my old Stanley axe head that I recently overhauled. The wood is built well and sturdy. I ended up sanding all the logos off and the finish it had on it and put boiled linseed oil on it. Feels much better and ended up pretty nice. I spent 30 bucks on another handle for my Winchester axe and this handle is of the same quality. Overall, very good handle for the money.

This handle was designed for a larger hatchet head than mine. I needed to grind down the handle almost 1/2†in order to get it to fit. But, the finished produce is extremely strong and well balanced.

This shoulders of this handle were too large to fit the key of a 1 1/4 lb. boy scout axe head without extensive fitting. The handle itself was roughly finished at the top and would require some sanding to make it suitable for comfortable handling. On a positive note, the orientation of the grain was perfect, so this should be very resistant to breakage.

Horrible handle. Doesn't fit hatchet head, but that might be a consumer error, purchasing the wrong one for my old hatchet head. But it's already cracked down the handle on multiple places. Would return but I've had it for 4 months

Many inexpensive handles will be made with the grain running horizontal to the plane of the bit, which is not good. You want vertical grain, which this handle has. No grain runouts. I was pleasantly surprised at this price.

The handle is too small for the eye of the axe head more suited for hammer or small tomahawk
