I picked this lock up to help secure some of my gun boxes when traveling. In my state, there are specific transportation laws, and even with a CCW, you're still limited with how you can travel safely and within the law. I picked this up for the purposes of transporting to and from the range, as well as if I ever decide to take a trip and need to secure my firearm on a flight, they will be within compliance.The device is rather easy to program, it takes only a 3 digit number code 0-9, and it clearly marks that it uses TSA key 007 on the bottom of the lock, so if there is ever a reason why TSA did not to check, they will have an idea as to which key is required.I feel this is a good lock, comes with a bolt that clips into the base, which is attached to wire cabling. It obviously is not the best security, but for the purposes of what it will be used for, compliance is key and it will do exactly what I need it to.

This comes with the lock and a small instruction sheet for changing the combination. It DOES NOT come with the TSA key because passengers aren't supposed to have those!Changing the combination involves pushing in a small button on the bottom of the lock when the current correct combination is showing. Then just change the numbers to your new combination and press the open button on the side to set it.The lock shank is long enough to fit lock holes on thick plastic cases.Should keep your luggage secure from casual thieves.

I was looking for a good padlock for a Pelican style case and this one looked promising.This lock is substantial. It’s nothing like your usual luggage TSA compliant padlock. It has a large pin instead of a shackle this makes it ideal for gun/equipment cases. The pin is adjustable for a wide variety of uses. When the pin is properly attached the pin is concealed and only the lock body and the flanged top of the pin are accessible. With most TSA compliant locks you can cut the shackle/pin/cable fairly easily often with nothing more that wire cutters. Not so with this one. The pin is substantial. You will need a decent cutter or grinder to cut the shackle. It describes it as “alloy†but does not state that it is hardened, but really it’s irrelevant as the pin is not the weak point.The pin locks via a ratcheting mechanism for a wide variety of applications. The mechanism seems fairly strong and I could not pilot it apart by hand. The weakness is in the dials. It is fairly easy to open with out the combination. Either by picking the TSA key, or by manipulation. I’m saying this not a a flaw, but rather to point out that this is not, nor is it intended to be a high security lock. It’s for luggage. It does however make it harder for someone to cut the lock off or spend the time to open it. Not so likely with normal baggage handling. There are better options if you want better security.As a luggage lock it is better than most. It would be top tier if they included a flag to show if it has been opened by TSA via the key. Other than that, is a great option for securing your case.

One of our family members has a gun and a new baby, so we're already thinking ahead to be sure all guns are safely stored. He's got a good secure case and this lock completes the security. It is very well constructed with a hefty sliding pin. The pin is adjustable in size by how far you push it into the lock body. The pin has a cable attached so the lock is all one piece. It's TSA-certified. The combination is easily customized. Safety first!

Arrived locked on a set combination other than the default and could not be reset. Have a feeling it was a used/returned item. Buyer beware.

This is an excellent TSA compatible gun case lock. For my use it works great for transporting a handgun inside airline checked luggage. It is lightweight yet strong and secure. Your own locking security code is easily set to your preference. This lock is made of quality material andshould last for a long time..

Pretty straight forward.Works as advertised.I have this on my pelican case and it does the jobI would not expect it to be very high security but should keep curious minds out of your stuff.
