I have a VGA monitor that works perfectly connected to my laptop for use as an extended second monitor. I previously got a VGA to HMDI adaptor that worked for years. I only have 1 HDMI port. My HDMI port is starting to fail. The only way to repair it is to get a new motherboard. I played with the cable and got it to work and then I would never move my laptop. Well the HDMI port finally failed - so I thought I would give this product a try. My laptop has a CD Drive - the smaller CD that came with the product could be read no problem. I installed the driver from the CD. Once finished I plugged in the adapter to a USB port and boom my second monitor came to life. It initially duplicated my laptop screen and then I changed the display setting to extend. Works like a charm! So far very pleased with the product. No flickering the video on my extended monitor is excellent.

This adapter is pretty awsome, it supports up to 1080p 60hz (at least from what i can tell, don't have a 1080p monitor ha) and the drivers installed flawlessly. Even on MacOS 15 (which isn't listed as a supported OS) the drivers installed with no issues! MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE DRIVERS!!! If not, you'll be stuck with a 800x600 display with high latency. There is noticeable latency, even with the drivers, but it's video over a USB connection so i can't really complain.

It's not working. My computer doesn't recognize the screen it's connected to and I get an error message. I thought it was because I have an old computer so I tried it on my new work computer and same issue. This is frustrating. I'm going to try updating drivers and if that doesn't work then I may as well return it and try to get twin HDMI VGA splitter.

Works well to drive a large monitor from a Panasonic Toughbook, but when using it with my HP laptop, the resolution is limited to the lowest setting, even though the computer says the USB port is 3.0. Video is clear, though, so still usable. Just skews the image a little if you fit it to the screen.

My laptop only has 1 HDMI port but I really wanted to attach a second monitor. HDMI splitter was out of the question because they only mirror/duplicate the screen (meaning exact same screen on both monitors) instead of extending the screen. I already have a VGA to VGA cable lying around and decided to give this USB-VGA adapter a try. Surprisingly it actually worked! And I am able to extend a different screen to my 2nd monitor perfectly! Also my VGA cable screws into this adapter perfectly so no risk of it coming unattached.NOT PLUG AND PLAY. You WILL have to install the drivers first which takes barely a minute (it's a little under 8MB). The package comes with a little CD you can pop in but there is also a pamphlet with the website address if you don't have a CD drive. It's really easy and self explanatory. If you are too lazy, Google "frescologic drivers". First link that comes up on Google should be the Fresco Logic Knowledge Base. You'll see the driver download links all right there. "USB 3.0 to VGA/DVI/HDMI Driver (Windows)" was the version I used.I had actually jumped the gun and plugged everything in before installing the driver. Once I installed I had to unplug the USB adapter and re-plug it in again but it worked perfectly! I didn't even have to restart my computer! I was weary of the driver EXE but it's actually legit and no virus for the one you get directly from Fresco Logic. I personally didn't try the CD and was unsure if I was willing to trust it. Admittedly I'm just overly cautious though.USB 3.0 port will grant you access to a lovely resolution of 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz.USB 2.0 will grant you a crappy resolution of 800 x 600 @60Hz.Choose wisely.

Lasted Less than 2 years. Bought 10/2022. Both failed 7/30/2024 at different points throughout the day, so at least they're consistent. They were used extensively on a work computer. Given the price, not bad, but a little more use would have been nice. Just be sure to have backups on hand so you don't have to run out to the store like I did.

I had an extra VGA Monitor when my original HDMI monitor failed. Most computers and towers don't have an older VGA monitor connector, so using this through a USB hub or a direct connect, allows you to use a VGA monitor on the system.

Product did not work, was returned, purchased another item from a store and they informed me what I needed was the soft ware to make it work.
