I have a bearded dragon in a 40 gallon tank. I was surprised at how much larger this bulb was compared to my other UVA/UVB light. It has mercury in it, so there's warnings on the package. I don't remember my other light having mercury. But what really kinda weirded me out was that after I installed it, my kid thought the dragon's branch was on fire. But it wasn't. It was, however, glowing blue where the light hit. And when I looked at the dragon, her coloring had changed. I had to take her out of the tank and keep her on me for a while before her coloring went back to normal. I think this may be too strong for my tank. And really, the mercury warning makes me a little nervous.Edited to add: I tried this again recently, because my dragon was looking like she wasn't herself, and the UVB light I had in there seemed weak, and I was reading that a lot of people use lights with mercury. I think she actually enjoyed the extra light, up until a point, and then she went inside her log and hid so I turned it off. I wish I knew more about the technical aspects of dragon ownership. But every time I get a thermometer for her tank it stops working or falls, and I don't know how to judge whether the UVB bulb is too strong, too weak or just right. I'd love to get a reliable temperature gauge in her tank.

I'm using this on my frogs' 36 x 18 x 18 terrarium on top of the mesh screen. I use the UVB 10 bulb due to my frogs spending most of their time in their pond at the bottom of the terrarium. I used my UVB card to see if this bulb is actually emitting UVB and it is. It's registering just as strong/purple as my name brand UVB 10 bulb, so that's great. I can't speak for the life of the bulb nor whether it makes it to 6 months at this time, however if it fails I'll return and update this.In the end, it works and emits UVB just as well as my name brand bulb bought at the pet store. For $13, it's definitely worth the price and worth considering the switch to a lesser known brand.Note: This is my honest opinion and I hope my experience helps you in your decision.

This light is bright! I don;t have a UV tester like some other reviewers, so I can't test on my own, but I am sure that their assessments are accurate. The bulb itself went in smoothly. It does stick out just a bit from the fixture but that's no big deal for me. The price seems absolutely fair. I could feel warmth from the bulb just when I held my hand under it (not warm enough to cook the reptiles, no worries!) so I am sure that they'll be getting the warmth they need. All in all, I do recommend this bulb

From what I can tell the bulb is bright and emits heat well for my bearded dragon babies. I don't own a UVB tester yet so I can't tell how much UVB it's emitting. It screwed into my deep dome reflector housing and fits inside it well. Always replace your UVB bulbs every 9 months unless you have a tester that proves otherwise.
