Description:
Photodiode module is most sensitive to environmental light intensity , generally used for detecting the ambient brightness and light intensity.
Compared with Photosensitive Resistance Sensor, this module has better directionality, can sense light in a certain direction.
When ambient light intensity does not reach the threshold value, the module DO port output high lever; when the ambient light intensity exceeds a set threshold, the D0 output low lever.
Sensitivity Adjustable. Increases detection brightness by adjusting the potentiometer clockwise and decreases by adjusting the potentiometer counterclockwise.

I bought this and the photoresistor at the same time for experimentation with a Raspberry Pi. They work fine with Raspberry Pi by the way. This product, the photodiode, is MUCH better at distinguishing very low light from low light, which is my application of interest. The photoresistor is terrible at the same thing. For the photodiode, I almosy had to turn the dial all the way to one extreme, then back off a hair. But it does work. The status LEDs are so bright I covered them with masking tape - they just glow right through a couple layers of that! But overall it's a very good device.
