  • Measure from the top of your vehicles receiver to the ground in inches

    Subtract fourteen inches from your receiver measurement

    Whatever drop length your calculated measurement is closest to should be your desired drop length. Round down if needed.

  • The shank size should reflect the size of your vehicle's receiver. To ensure fit, measure the inside (wall to wall) of the square receiver located the back of your vehicle. Generally 1/2 ton are 2", 3/4 & 1 ton are 2.5", occasionally 1+ ton are 3"

  • Somewhere on your trailer coupler there should be a measurement stamped into the coupler itself telling you the size of tow ball you will need. Or you can take a ruler and measure the inside of the opening of the coupler.

  • All hitches may be used in rise position *Gain 1 inch (e.g. 4” drops are 5” rises)

I found Weigh safe a few years ago and have used them on a number of vehicles. The number one reason why I have to buy new units rather than reclaim them when getting rid of the truck has been that keyed alike hitch pin. They do not work well if you leave them unattended for long periods of time. They do their job but after a period of time they can be very challenging to unlock and remove. Hence the replacement hitch as the previous model ends up on the vehicle. Love the hitch, not a fan of the chrome ball which rusts 10 seconds after you look at it. But other than that very nice and solid build.

The 2&3/8 ball fits very tightly with no room for bouncing when fitted and locked. Very secure and weight-worthy. Recommend this Hitch to anyone who wants a High Quality Hitch that doesn’t rust and is totally dependable.

This is my 2nd "Weigh Safe" drop hitch. First one I purchased was a 6" drop, which I bought at the time because it was the only one available when I needed it. Fast forward a couple years later, I was very happy with that one so I got one that fit my truck better.This 10" drop hitch feels even sturdier than the 6" and is (was now - I live on a dirty ol farm) super shiny. Sorry, but the shine won't last on the hitch ball after the first use - after all, it is supporting lots of weight with friction. Like others have noted, it is just a shiny paint on top that gets scraped off quickly. I'm ok with it as I don't have it on my truck to "look nice". It's function over form for me and this is what this drop hitch provides.Definitely recommend because I do believe these are high quality hitches for your rig.

Appears to be of great quality and Made In America. Strong design and light weight…….An additional item one should order is a rattle clamp. The newer vehicles with receivers of 2.5” and 3.0” needs an adapter sleeve for the 2” ball mount to slip into. But they are slightly larger then 2.5” or 3.0” and the ball mount will be slightly loose when installed. A rattle free U-Clamp is highly recommended to secure the ball mount into the receiver. I have always wanted a dual hitch system, as switching between 2” and 2 5/16” is a pain due to the weight of the multiple hitches. After several considerations/possibilities I chose this hitch and I am glad I did! It is beautiful, functional, light weight and made in the USA. Adjusting tow height, switching between ball size and confidence is simply awesome!

I typically buy the cheapest drop hitches I can find. I recently purchased a new enclosed trailer and figured I would buy a good quality drop hitch. After doing some research I bought the weigh safe. This one doesn’t have the gauge on it but does come with keyed alike locks. You can also purchase additional keyed a like locks for the doors/ gates on trailer through weigh safe. It a very solid hitch and does not rattle around like the cheaper hitches. Very satisfied.

I drove around with 4 different hitches for years! Two different ball sizes and different heights. This product replaced them all and is lighter. Seriously recommend!!!
