I've used "nicer" grinders, but haven't ever owned one. I really didn't want to invest a ton in it and was looking for a good bang:buck ratio. This nails it. The construction is solid. It does everything I want well. It makes things like the "nice" Harbor Freight model look like garbage. Chances are, if you're looking at this model, it's probably the best fit for you.The only knock is that the tool rests are "ok." The flat one is definitely usable, which is not the case with cheaper grinders. But the notches don't allow me to get to 25 degrees I want on my chisels and plane irons. I just dropped a washer in there and it holds well. I haven't thought about it since.I did set aside the course stone and the grooved tool rest and replaced that with a brass wire brush (also Wen brand) that I use for rust removal. They may be useful to you, but the fine stone is as much as I need and the grooved rest is awkward for what I do. Really I don't want it in the way with the wire brush because I'm just doing random angles. It's perfect for what I use it for: totally re-bevelling edges and restoration of old rusty tools. I just keep water handy to not take the temper out of steel and blow through my work pretty quickly. The lights and guards are nice in my dark workroom. Not fancy, but sufficient. If I need a better view from the side, I use a cheap IKEA crane neck LED lamp. I am paranoid and wear goggles and a respirator while I work. For longer sessions I wear hearing protection. I've just damaged myself (and my glasses) enough at this age to even chance it anymore. But I haven't noticed particles flying at me and keep the plastic guards in place.I've never owned a Wen tool before, but will likely look to them first for tools like this going forward. You'd have to pay at least twice this to get a better tool. If you're in that market, you probably know it and wouldn't even be looking at this. I wouldn't buy anything cheaper because it'll be regrettably underwhelming.

2023 I decided to (slowly) replace all my old, 20+ year old workshops tools, with some modern, less heavy, and better ones. Read up on this "Wen" company and liked all the reviews...almost all their tool products have 4.5 star reviews, some even better then DeWalt and Milwaukee items! So as you can see in the photo I got a Wen Drill press, this advertised Wen bench Grinder, and the handheld grinder (all orange colors). WOW! Not only are they cheaper priced, they weigh much less, give you some extra cool features like lights, water cooling tray. A tool is a tool and it gets the job done. I'm sold on Wen products. Highly recomended.

Both wheels have dual axis wobble, resulting in vibration that shakes battery compartment cap loose and causes batteries to pop out. Sheet metal wheel guards don’t sit perpendicular to wheels, ergo the tool rests sit at an angle to the wheels. Wheels both have stains on them and one of the rests looks like it has been ground down. Was this previously used? I want to like this grinder for the price but it’s got too many issues. I’ll be returning this pronto

4.8 amp motor. It is extremely well balanced and smooth as silk. Never had a grinder run in so balanced a manner. Powerful...repeat powerful...not wimpy!
