This is way faster than screens. I hooked it up to my shop vac with a hepa filter and bag to cut most of the dust out. The hose is a bit flimsy and the shop fan was almost too strong for it. Great value for the money. Prob wouldn’t last long if used daily, but great diy tool.

Purchased the sander to finish sand some drywall patch repairs. I disconnected the bag connecting the hose to a 5gal wet/dry vacuum via a 1 1/4 in hose. I did not want to cover all of the furniture, countertops and appliances etc. Used in this manner it performed outstanding leaving little or no dust anywhere but, on the sanding disk. Had speed setting on 2, and the vac control adj. at 50%. It does have some weight to it, so the included control handle and shoulder strap do make a difference in control. [3min to sand a 24 in x 24 in patch using 180 gr]

Converting half of my barn in to a small studio apartment. Threw up the drywall and taped, and just dreaded the sanding ahead, especially the ceiling. So did some research and was planning to get a cordless / professional unit which would have cost over $500. Which I felt was going to be a bit of an extreme investment on a tool for just this one project.Anyways, decided on this Wen product since I have a few or their other power tools, drill press, etc...Started on the walls and then the ceiling.First I was truly disappointed with the suction as there was dust flying and dropping everywhere. That's when I realized I forgot to turn on the shop vac. After that small oversight was resolved, the amount of dust was negligible, not even needing a mask or glasses. Overall it took a bit of getting used to the weight and appropriate angles but it did the job it was intended to and saved me hours of sanding after the 2nd mud coat. However, even with a short amount of time sanding the ceilings and walls ( 1 1/2 hours), my arms were jelly.Pros:* Works and sands well* Suction with a large shop vac works well* Cost and intended use, well worth the ROI* Variable speedCons:* The weight of the unit, even at 10 pounds, plus the hose dragging behind is nothing to sneeze at. It'll give you a workout for sure. It was a reminder i needed to hit gym more* There is a bit of a rattle/shimmer as others have noted, but was able to adjust by position and how to float the head over the work area* The ergonomics isn't bad but the switches for on-off and speed were not in the best place, but workable.Cons.* Weight distribution, the motor mounted head does tend drop if I wasn't paying attention and not having it at the right angle, which caused a few gauges. But will need to correct before priming. But again beats the time of having to do by hand.* the hose attachment didn't fit with my shopvac hose, had to use A/C tape to affix the two hoses, worked just fine.Summary:Does it do the job intended, yes.Is it heavy and a workout, yes. Just take a few extra breaks and rotate hand/arm positions often.Did it save me time, absolutely.Would I buy it again. Probably yes.

This sander lives up to the advertising, good power, good dust collection using a shop-vac and good features. I watched several YouTube videos on this sander before purchasing and most all were pretty much accurate in my experience. The sander seems to have plenty of power even when using 60 grit sanding disks as I never had it bog down. Dust collection with a shop-vac is very, very good, but as I saw in videos when everything is turned off and you rotate the unit sanding head down there will be some dust fall out. You do have to have a vacuum for dust collection, but it will run without it if you can stand the dust! The difference between sanding with a manual pole sander and this WEN unit when connected to a shop-vac are night and day! I have a basement to finish out and just doing a room previously, there was dust everywhere and I was trying to figure out how I was going to keep all that dust from getting upstairs. Using this WEN sander and a good shop-vac has alleviated my concern almost completely! A couple of things to know: the unit is slightly heavy and you will need to rest or switch arms occasionally and the On/Off switch is a little too easy to switch OFF accidently. The unit has one extension section if you have high walls or ceiling work and also a shoulder strap for the ceiling work to take some of the strain off your arms. I would bump the switch moving my hand around while moving the sanding head on the wall and turn the unit off and I think it just needs a slightly better location or more recessing to correct that. This WEN sander has delivered on its advertising promises and I'm happy with it and the results. I can recommend this product!

30 years general construction experience. Landlord. This machine is a game changer. Much lighter than those ol Porter Cables we used to have to use. If you honestly believe this eliminates dust, you've never done drywall. It reduces the dust, very well. If you think it's an excuse to be bad at finishing drywall, you've never done drywall. It will smooth good drywall work. If you're a professional and have realistic expectations, this is the one. I even found the triangle head useful. Sanded a new construction one bedroom apartment in 1 1/2 hours. Didn't break a sweat, 10' ceilings. Feet rarely left the floor, and very little pointing up by hand left. DON'T FORGET TO BUY SANDPAPER WITH IT. They send you 2 variety packs. Just grab a pile of 180 or 120.

I highly recommend this product. I am a DIY novice but thru need had to repair a hole 24x60 inches after removal of cupboard from my kitchen ceiling. As the rest of the ceiling was textured we decided to remove it. (See That Kilted Guy on youtube) after research we decided we needed to get a tool for the job. As budget was tight decided on the WEN 6369 variable speed sander. This item is quite heavy and long and comes with a +-15ft hose and a shoulder strap. We hooked up the vac hose to a Rigid 35L shop vacuum and fitted both a bag and pleated filter(blue) to the inside to stop dust being blown around. I recommend using a 90 or 120 grit sanding disc to start with just to get used to it and use the variable speed at lowest setting. The motor on the head for the oscillator causes it to tilt. To overcome this it is better to get close to the ceiling and hold the machine parallel to the ceiling switch it on lift and let the brushes that surround the sanding disc come into contact with the ceiling. This gives nice even pressure and stops disc chatter. Dont put too much pressure or sweep to fast as this may overwhelm the vacuum and clog up the holes. The holes may sometimes get blocked but a quick palm slap dislodges it. The weight does give your shoulders a work out but there are two "feet" attached to the end of the wand. I tried using them hooked into my tool pouch and found that it gave moderate pressure relief to the shoulders. My solution was to do 30 minutes and give it a break. Long sweeps along a path give the best results. Once we started the mudding a whole new universe exploded upon me. See That Kilted Guy again for his vids on how to mud. It took two muddings with a final spackle just get it right. After each sanding we used an LED flashlight with beam held accutely to the ceiling to see the imperfections from the sanding. This helped to see where further sanding was needed. After three days I had the technique. The discs supplied have 8 holes in the middle and I would recommend only purchasing these as they feed a lot of powder into the vacuum tube. I have not used sanding discs without holes so cannot compare. The thought of trying to do this project by hand would be daunting especially with the amount of dust that is generated. I would say we captured over 90% of the dust in the shop vacuum. After three full days of sanding the bag was full of dust but the pleated filter showed no sign of dust. So you could get away with the bag only. The WEN 6369 is a great tool and indispensible if you plan on doing drywall.

I have been using them for years but also had the princess auto model which was great but has changed. This model of the Wenn was the closest looking and feels the same when using and easy switch button to reach and works the same. Great for sheetrock sanding and mud but like every electric model they are heavy when working over head. Train more than one worker on this product so others can see how much they beat up the shoulders but it makes life easier and with a powerful HEPA vacuum it can easily collect 75% of the dust.
