This is a top-notch Wen chuck that will be used for various projects with my Wen lathe. Mounting it onto my lathe was simple. It grips my wood and acrylic blocks superbly well.

This item works very well. I like the smaller jaw size. At first, mine seemed to catch a bit when tightened but that is smoothing out over time. I have used it alot not had one work piece slip.

This chuck is a good value for the money. Keep in mind, I've only had it for a few days so I have no idea how well it will hold up over time. Contrary to what someone else said, Nova jaws do not fit this chuck properly. Measuring with dial calipers will make it apparent. It certainly is not as well made as Nova chucks but if you are looking to add a chuck to your arsenal to prevent jaw changes this chuck will suit the purpose. Note, the screws are 5mm instead of the usual 6mm and you know how easy it is to lose the tiny screws, so a trip to the hardware store in advance would be prudent.

Works really well on my small lathe. I’m a casual hobbyist and this was a great purchase for me.

I needed a second chuck and one that would handle smaller parts. I use it to make small boxes from 1" to 5" diameter. The lids are turned in this chuck while the box stays in the larger chuck. The i can fit the box diameter to the lid to get the best fit.

I bought this chuck in June 2019 to turn ink pens and it has worked fantastic. I had to shorten the jaw screws to get the Nova pen jaws to seat properly. I ground them off by about 1/16 inch and the fit was perfect. Unfortunately, I ended up replacing all of the screws at about the 3 year mark (a couple $$ at Ace Hardware). The heads broke off one while I was attaching the jaws. I have turned so small bows which started out as pretty large blanks with this chuck and it has yet to let one fly across the shop.It does not have a locking mechanism to hold it on the lathe in the reverse operation. It will off onto the floor - that was scary! The back has a cover plate to keep the dust out of the internal gears which is nice.It does not have indexing marks on the back or side like the new version. I believe this one is in fact a PSI Barracuda based on the laser engraving located on the inside under the back plate.I'm in Florida so the humidity is bad for al tools so it does have some slight discoloration (rust) on the outside but it does not affect it function. I am very happy with this purchase. I will do a review with photos of the new version I purchased and received last week. It has a few additional features.Would I buy it again, yes!

It doesn't hold the wood and is rough going in and out. I ruined 2 pieces and I got hit with one of them causing a large bruise on my leg when it came flying out of the chuck. It was tightened, it was centered, everything was as it should be until it wasn't. I saw several reviews complaining of issues with this chuck. I tried to save some money and get this but at what cost, really? I'm going to try to return it after 2 days of disappointment

The first one that arrived seemed to make a grinding noise when turning the jaws in or out, called amazon who sent an immediate replacement, however I had to return the original one at my own expense which is why I didn't give it a 5 out of 5.The replacement is much smoother and performs very well.
