Your cart is empty.Here's an extremely useful tool for checking the functionality of speakers and components within loudspeakers. The Whirlwind CabDriver generates pink noise, which you can route through one of its many output jacks. Choose from Speakon NL8, Speakon NL4, 1/4" TS, and banana jack outputs, or XLR line-level output for testing self-powered speakers. You can also use the CabDriver to apply 5 volts of DC current to the system, allowing you to observe cone movement in order to identify speaker and cabling polarity problems. This also performs a DC ohms test, in which an LED lights up to indicate whether the system is designed for 4, 8, or 16 ohms. This happens to be one of the most important tools that an audio engineer can carry with them to a job site. The ability to ring out a speaker before it even lifts off the ground or ran to an amp is life-saving when it comes to finding an issue from the very start. Minimizing the risk of delaying the setup time of a show, or the chance of finding an issue too late or during the show itself. To be able to verify you have the full range of the cabinet (speaker) before you run lines to it or do anything else. It is also a wonderful weight lifted from your shoulders that doesn't need to be looming.Of course, it is a bit pricey like anything else you would buy into for such an industry, but at least this one can really save your reputation (you are only as good as your last show it seems these days).It is one of the smallest, most convenient and affordable (compared to the crazy prices of the few other options you get to select from) solutions you can get for such a job.
