I’m impressed with the design and overall quality of this helping hand with the magnifying glass/LED light. I use it to help with building a wood model of a boat that has extremely small, detailed components and requires much more dexterity and steadiness than I have.Assembly was very easy and took about 5 to 10 minutes to complete. It comes with a very nice Phillips head screw driver and a 12mm wrench for the assembly. The light and magnifying glass are extremely helpful. The rubber covering on the alligator clips is a nice feature which helps keep the item being held in place without excessive force and the clips hold even the smallest parts firmly (it even comes with 2 extra clips). My only complaint is that, for my application, the arms ‘rebound’ when you try to put them into position so it takes a little practice to get them exactly where you need them. If you were holding a solid object with all four clips it shouldn’t be an issue.I recommend this item and would buy it again.

I was impressed by the construction of this item especially since it comes from China. Assembled easily and will work for my hobby electronic soldering.

First let me state that this is a really cool station that has articulating arms, a bright-ish LED, and decent magnification. I use it almost daily for my hobbies and projects and I don't regret the purchase, just wish it was a little better.Enough about the good things, let's talk about the areas where it could be better, as that is what makes a good review over the ones that say "it's awesome, buy it".1.) The LED doesn't shut off when it's turned off, it goes into low brightness mode, like a nightlight, say 20% brightness. I personally like this but note that this doesn't actually shut off. At least my version from 2022 does this.2.) When in this low mode turned off but still on, it actually flickers completely off and back again to the 20%. This part is annoying and it does this every 15-45 seconds randomly. I have tried different USB power supplies, tried PD and QC and old-school apple ones and it does it no matter what.3.) I use 120W PD USB power with 2 ports and 1 is connected to this and the other is a 65W soldering iron. When I turn on the soldering iron the light goes off...Most of the time. After both have been on a while and I repeat the process to turn back on the soldering iron the light stays on. It seems to be super sensitive to any power fluxuations but clearly there is way more than enough power to supply the light but it likes to shut off and forces me to turn it back on.4.) The stand is solid and the arms are solid, but the arms are a bit too solid. They aren't as flexible as needed so it becomes a chore to find the right angle. The arms to NOT rotate so if your part needs to be 90 degrees orientation you have to move the whole arm and fight with it to get it into that position. Most of the time it's easier to use a different arm because you can't get it to hold the piece in the correct position.5.) The magnifying part is only 3x. I wish it was more, maybe 5x so I have to wear magnifying readers and also the lens on here, but it was the only one with this form factor that I liked and so I have to live with 3x.6.) The light could be brighter but it's solid. You can never have too much light so over bright LEDs would have been nice so I could turn it down when not needed but as of right now it's full bright and wishing I had more light at time. I have to keep a flashlight near for those times when I need more.Overall you can see I didn't rate it bad because it's not bad, but it's not without its flaws. If it was $10 cheaper I would say buy it and live with the flaws but since it's kind of a price premium piece I am much more critical.

i love it, i like that it came with two extra alligator clips. it also came with the exact right number of screws which is great. the only problem is that one of the screws had a defect in the first 8 threads.. they were flat on one side. i tried to file them out but that was tedious so i took it to the belt sander and ground the off. that worked great but the problem is those screws go through the rubber feet (which are high qualith and have a little metal plate internally for the screw head to rest against) through the metal base and then connect to the flexible arm that holds the alligator clip. the screw was to short to do that after sanding so i put it directly through the metal platform and flipped the rubber foot upside down so that the screw head would still fit inside and everything would be flush and super glued the foot into place. it is perfectly functional but does bother my ocd a bit.therefore my only suggestion to the company that packages these is it would be smart to include an extra screw since some seem to have defects and they are pretty specific screws. i may be able to find one at home depot but it will probably be like 2 dollars for 4 of them if im lucky. i still gave it five stars because it is a great product and great value but a lot of people would kinda be screwed in that situation or may not want to macgyver it. luckily i care about function more than form. a replacement screw would be cool but not worth it to ship so i will probably leave it as is. this is truly just a suggestion that they throw in an extra screw.

Like the weight of the base plate, the LEDs embedded into the rim of the magnifying glass, and the controls. Not the biggest fan of the arms though. They're fairly springy and don't have the memory I'd like them to (they will kinda drift back towards the previous position when you let go.) This makes it a bit tough to get smaller PCBs held at a convenient angle. The arms also don't offer enough resistance for supporting a PCB off of a surface unless you have a really light hand. The plastic/rubber covers for the alligator clips are also not very heat tolerant, which is a major miss on a product labelled as a soldering tool/accessory.Overall, for the price it's not a terrible buy but I'd definitely recommend spending a bit more to get something with better arms/articulation and maybe a bit more work area as the small base can make things a bit cramped.

Very to use third hand, flexible, and stiff in good way. Had some problems with magnifying glass, I think it’s not the best quality one, but if you alight it correctly it works great. Can recommend to buy.
