Works absolutely perfect. The thread holder doesn’t lock up completely, it gets a little loose, but nothing a small piece of masking tape can’t totally fix! It’s cute, it’s a great tool. Def worth the money.

So the yarn guide on mine does not stay up on its own! This worked great on a small skein of yarn but bigger ones were awful! Yarn got snagged in gear under the head and it became loose on top forcing me to unroll it to fix it! Once I held the yarn guide up and kept tension on the yarn it was better but still not great for bigger skeins of yarn!!

The yarn guide doesn’t stay up. I enjoy using this yarn winder; however, the only complaint I have is that it would constantly wrap the yarn wrong because the yarn guide kept falling down. Once I taped it, it worked perfectly fine :)

I hated having all my yarn balled up and knotted and couldn’t take trying to unravel it. This is a lifesaver. As you can see I rolled 2 perfectly wound up yarn balls and this is the baby soft thick blanket yarn. I was afraid of rolling the whole bit into one ball so I split it. I’m definitely using it for all my yarn!! It’ll be great for storage too! Highly recommend

CORRECTED REVIEW!!! I inadvertently submitted the wrong review for this product. This product was returned and I purchased a different winder. This one was too flimsy for my liking. My apologies for the confusion!!!This is a great old school wool winder. I purchased one of these well over 20 years ago and it unfortunately stopped working. I purchased an updated different brand and it was too flimsy for me. I was too happy to find this brand again and I am very pleased with this winder.

I love this thing and don't know how I lived without it. I have not had any problem with jamming gears or yarn getting caught up. Of course you have to pay attention to what you're doing and any yarn winder can have the yarn go off track, especially if going too fast. I love the balls of yarn. It creates they stay together without unraveling, and just sit on the shelf beautifully. Using the yarn is a joy for the center pull is smooth and compact. The balls of yarn fit perfectly in the yarn bowl. I was recently given as a gift. You can't beat the price on this one and it has worked great for me. I actually clamp it to a wooden lap desk that I do a lot of my work on. Winding yarn should not be under a lot of pressure and so I have had no problem with the clamp holding the winder in place. After rolling a large number of balls, I may have to tighten the dial a little now and then, but that is to be expected and no big deal. I'm glad I ignored some of the other reviews, and took a chance on this product because it has performed very well for me.

I’m usually sitting somewhere comfortably so I haven’t attempted to attach to a table. I just hold it in my hands. So it definitely works well it’s easy to use. Great value for the price. Pictures show it all.

This is a very basic yarn winder. For the price it works alright. The guide wire does not snap in place, meaning I usually have to hold it while winding. I have adapted a way of clamping it onto a chair sideways so that gravity holds it in place. The balls are not the neatest compared to other wonders I have tried (sometimes a strand wraps over the top of the ball) and it works best for small balls of yarn. It does not tension the yarn so you may have to do that with your fingers. In retrospect, I wish I would have purchased a different one. I wonder how it compares to some of the winders that are just about five dollars more. Honestly, it might be worth it to check those out those first. But it does work, and treated well, it would probably last awhile. I wish it fit in its little box better for storage.
