These lamps are easy to install if you handle them carefully. My lizard likes being under the lamp and the life of the bulb is appreciable. One warning for handling the bulbs is to use a soft glove to put them in the lamp. That way oils from your hands aren't left behind and cause the bulb to crack when it becomes hot. Also, be careful not to bump the bulb; they are somewhat fragile.

Temperature rose to 82F in a 68F room 10 inches from desired area of warming. Would be nice if someone could test whether it truly supplies uvb. :-) Purchased 25W blue bulb.

First off, these mini bulbs and the mini fixture I think are more effective wattage-wise than the traditional dome/bulb setup usually sold. 25 watts of mini heats comparable to 50 watts of traditional bulbs in my experience.The drawback is bulb life. Cycling these bulbs ON and OFF multiple times a day will shorten the bulb life. Instead of doing that, I tried a lamp dimmer in-line. This way when I wanted the bulb "OFF", I instead dimmed it down low enough to not be off all the way. The lifetime has increased dramatically doing this. If your setup can tolerate leaving the lamp barely on, then give it a try. In warm weather you will obviously need to turn the lamp off, or if you use a temperature controller. But for those times of the year that suit, try the dimmer approach.

We bought our daughter a turtle (she named her rosey) for her birthday. We bought a turtle kit that was supposed to have EVERYTHING you'll need (I was told) for the turtles happiness and health. We found out after we set her up that we needed a bigger tank, a water heater, an additional filter and other important things that didnt come with the kit. The kit that claimed to have all we would need! We only ended up using the lamp dome for the heat and uv lights, the food, the lid (that luckily fit the bigger tank) we happen to have on hand and the filter, but only as a secondary filter because we had to add another so there was enough filtration for rosey so the one it came with was never enough. To top, we still had to add more items for the health of our new family member, like a water heater & other food options...ex...ex. After all of that the heat bulb blow out a week and a half of use. This was with us turning the lamp off at night too! So now we had to replace the bulb and do it fast. She only just got used to her environment and just started basking again the day it blew so we really really needed to replace the bulb as fast as possible.Luckily we found these replacement bulbs and incase another stops working we have two more on hand. Great for the zilla mini dome light. Also if you don’t want to buy 3 they have them at most petcos.

These are great for a small tank/ limited space. But any kind of movement from the lamp makes the light go out. Super frustrating
