I bought this for an 'out of the box' Use. I installed it in a ceiling 'heat lamp' fixture, that we've never really used, - because it's too far away (8 ft) to make much of a difference, - as far as it being an effective heat source (like after a shower). We always have just turned on an electric, forced air (wall mount) heater. The room goes from chilly, to very toasty in a few minutes. We are using it, - for when you get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, and don't want the brightness/glare of the regular Bathroom lights (ie., don't want to 'wake-up' anymore than necessary). We tried a 40 w zoo med bulb, 1st, - but it was too dim (mounted at a 8 foot ceiling height). So, we bought this 60 watt Zoo Med bulb, and it is 'Perfect'. It's bright enough that you can see around well in the bathroom, & not so bright as to wake you up (or reset your 'wake up' time due to bright lights (google it), and being a 'red' light, it does Not diminish your 'night vision' - like white light will (google that too). So, if you have any of the same concerns listed above, consider trying this - it really works for us. And at under $5 (Dec, '13) - it's cheap enough. Just add it to one of your 'other' orders as an 'add-on' - so you get free shipping too. And, as these are meant to be left 'on' (most of the time) to provide heat for reptiles in pens, this bulb should last for many years. I'd buy this again and do recommend it to others -w/o reservations. [ Do, make sure any light fixture you want to put it in is up to the task, as it does generate 'heat'. I don't know what the 'amount' heat is, or what it would be equivalent to in a regular light bulb (ie., a 60w thru 150w, etc ). Maybe Zoo Med, can give you assistance with that (how much heat their bulb generates - compared to standard light bulbs). ]

This is my second time buying this product. It works great for keeping my geckos tank warm at night. I will continue to buy these each time I need a new bulb. This is my 2nd one in two years but i run it for 12 hrs a day x 365 days a year. So good life span on the bulb.

I had purchased this bulb to use for my 2 day old growing chickens, and needed the tank to be about 95 degrees F. This bulb worked perfectly (at the hottest point under the bulb, it was about 100 degrees F). So with minor height adjustments, it was exactly what I needed. It keeps the tank warm, but the lamp itself doesnt get hot to the point of burning, so it is super safe to use indoors!

These bulbs are great for about a week and then they blow out. I would have given them less stars, but I emailed the company and let them know along with my receipts and They shipped out new bulbs within a week. I am very happy with their customer service, and I am not giving a bad review for that reason.

I bought this for my chick brooder. My chicks are 5 weeks old and not quite ready to be off the heat entirely, so I needed a dimmer red bulb that wouldn't put out as much heat as the 50 watt I was using. This 25 watt worked great! I've been using it only at night. It gets the warm end of the brooder around 70 degrees, and the light is dim enough to help encourage the chicks to sleep at night.

I just received a Pacman frog as a pet and he needs temperatures from 65-80, this bulb is just warm enough to keep his temps up in the day without getting too hot. 10/10 would recommend if you have a reptile or amphibian that needs to stay a little warmer than room temperature.

I used this light bulb as a basking lamp for my two yellow bellied sliders. They would enjoy it, so no complaints there. However, after 3 months of discontinuous use, the filament broke. I always turned it off during the night at around 12am and turned it on again during morning. Maybe it would have lasted longer if I kept it on 24 hours like it was designed to do?Bought a second one on Amazon again. This one lasted only a month and a half. If anyone can find a better value with a different bulb please leave a comment.

I got the recommendation from Dr. Cassie Huckaby. She uses red light therapy and this is the specific brand of bulb she recommends, for us living individuals as well as animals 😜It gives off a nice light, not over powering and gentil on the eyes, yet still bright enough to see. It's great and I don't hear a hum like I could hear with the other lightbulb.

Iv bought bulbs from this brand and some reason they would immidatly blow out in my lamp. This one thought stayed golden 🤙 good price and fast shipping and good quality super happy I recommend it for your lil reptile babies. my gecko Lizanardo da-Vinci is happy again :)

not had a problem, item is as description it is a zoo med 25w bulb it came in a zoo med box and is excellent i can view my gecko at night.i am well happy many thanks amazon.
