I have been shopping for a good "channel knife" that is suitable to make some festive garnish strips for cocktails. I have tried other "zesters" but the knife always sucked; I returned them. I have used this ZYLISS (the new model) on an orange(thick peel), a lemon(medium peel) and a lime(hard peel) with good results. I can only hope that it will remain sharp going forward.I really wanted a channel knife that I can "pull" straight back. I've used others with the cutter on the side, but they don't work well for me. It is hard enough to get through the skin of citrus and, in my experience, the side channel knife is more difficult to maneuver. This ZYLISS design with the big, comfortable handle (and a big hole if you want to hang it up) allows me greater control to cut a nice long, thinner, uniform garnish that looks great on the glass rim or in the drink.The zester seems to work fine, should I need it.(And thanks to those people who answered my questions before I bought it. You were spot on...)

This is great for making lemon or lime twists for Martinis. I ordered a different one from Amazon, and it was junk. It couldn’t even begin to make a lemon twist. This one worked perfectly right out of the box. Highly recommended. But I only used it for lemon twists. High quality.

I wish the handle were a touch larger for my hands. The design seems to be more geared towards smaller hands, but that being said, it's not uncomfortable.The blades are very very sharp, as the slice on my finger will attest to.Used this several times now, and it works very well!
