The pricing on this was great compared to a box store.

Instead of getting the 1.5" tape I purchased the 2" tape to give a overhang and better protect the joist.I covered a 20' x 32' deck with 12" joist spacing. I purchased 2 boxes of the bulk 50' x 10 rolls.I used all but one roll. Once you apply it and it gets hot you can forget about removing it easily.Worked great, half the price of others.I will recommend this tape to others doing decks.

This stuff is sticky. Once you put it on the joist and press it down with your hand it is there to stay. The adhesive can be cut if you notice a little debris under the tape and it heals itself as the adhesive is thick enough that it binds back together and creates a seal. The fault with this tape is the thin white plastic like material used to keep the adhesive from contacting the surface of the tape while on the roll. It peels off fairly well until it doesn’t. Sometimes small strips will begin to tear away on the side and must be picked off with your fingernails or a utility knife blade. This can double the amount of time you spend peeling the protective tape off and can be quite frustrating.

I’ve never used joist tape before however I saw many videos of people struggling with the tape backing. All ten rolls separated quite easily. Simple process for hopefully extending the life of my treated pine framing.

After 24 hours this tape bubbled-up and unstuck all across my deck joists. I would have thought this was normal (or that I did something wrong in installing the tape) but I ran out and bought two rolls of a competitor’s tape and it stayed smooth and even on the joists. Not adhering to wood is a bad quality for joist tape. This was a waste of money and a ton of time spent trying to protect my deck joists.

The rubber tape is very good with great adhesive. However, the non-stick backing is so fragile that it rips into small slivers of plastic as you try to install the tape. On average, it took 8 minutes to install the tape onto a single 16 foot joist. Multiple that by 18 joists and it came out to be 2.5 hours. Very frustrating.

Does not stick to wood very well. Won’t wrap around the 2x4. Sticks to extension cords and pants quite well. Would not recommend.

The product is nice and thick and seemed to stick when I used a heat gun to Warm it up after applying. The big problem is the backing constantly tares so you have to pick it off the rubber tape. Also it has so much static on it, it won't come off your hands. So you need a vaccume constantly running to suck it off your hands. A real pain in the butt. So if you are not being paid by the hour "OK". But if you are on the clock it will tripple the install time. Also buy the widest you can find so you can wrap it on the sides of the joist.
