Product Description

068

Mode of operation

When the input power is turned on, the time delay starts.

After the time delay is complete the load energizes and remains energized as long as power is applied. The control is reset by removing power during or after the time delay period.

The QD-068 provides thermostat interruption protection, even in the presence of a trickle current.

Replaced both timers on overhead crane hoist controls. Took 5 minutes to synchronize the cut on adjustment between the two. Worked great. Better than the OEM

I installed a humidifier on my main heat pump AHU, and I had a hard time figuring out how to sequence the humidifier with the unit with a variable speed fan, and air switch. Once I figured out that all I needed was a way to cycle the humidifier off as the fan started to slow down to minimum RPMs before it shut off the AHU, which caused the humidifier to cycle on on off 4-5 times in the last 20-30 seconds of the run cycle, as the air switch couldn't compensate for it. So once it clicked/cycled off the first time during the shutdown cycle it stayed off. I set the delay for about 40 seconds. This worked great, and once and for all, stopped my humidifier from hunting...it was also an excellent price. Thanks!

The desire was to have a delay in starting a reverse osmosis system pressure pump for several minutes. This will permit the captive pressure tank to supply the flow and start the pump only when the full system pressure drops off. It works very well with the adjustable switch set to the 3 minute mark.

DOA right out of the box. Full price junk.

Technically this does function as a delay, but with a BIG caveat. Unless the LOAD requires significant amperage it will still pass voltage on instantly. Granted, all of these have this behavior but the leakage current is in the mA range, along with significant V-drop. The leakage from this however is sufficient to power a relay, which is generally what the load is meant to control to begin with.Got this as a replacement to control a furnace 2'nd stage (W2 - 24VAC). But this would energize W2 immediately, nullifying it's intended function. All 4 in the package behaved this way. The MINUTES delay dial is roughly accurate, will give it that much. But unless the LOAD has very low impedance this won't work as intended.**UPDATE**I tried cutting the wire for 110/220V as @TS suggested. Seems to be working normally with 24VAC. Though disconnecting the LOAD will also cause timer to reset now. But this is unlikely to be an issue under normal use. May just cause some confusion performing diagnostics.Seller did provide a full refund following my review. Credit the seller for that. But doesn't affect my initial score. Nor should the user have to do the exact opposite of the instructions for it to be operable.

I cannot tell if it is working correctly, since the wire that says to cut for 100/220V applications...Furnaces typically use 24 V for control circuitry... But the motor it is controlling is clearly a 120V Motor. So, so I cut the wire because it's controlling a 120v motor in my furnace (blower motor) or do I leave it uncut because it's likely using 24v as part of the furnaces control circuitry?Does the term *Applications" referred to on the blue wire shown in the product image, imply that it's being controlled by 24v (uncut in that case) or does " Application" mean that it's used to control a 120v motor and therefore should be cut?I therefore cannot tell if it works properly or not - but when I restored power to my furnace at the breaker - the blower came on with the wire uncut... But also without any heat being applied to the furnace.Other than an utter lack of instructions of any kind, I have the product and it's working, I think.Any insights on that wire though are still a blank spot in my knowledge.

Using a 24VAC HVAC application, I attempted to use this to drive a 24VAC relay with a time delay. Pretty simple eh?Well there's a problem. While the time delay is in effect, the relay would buzz and sometimes randomly latch. Not good. Too much leakage voltage. Both units had the same problem. Tried adding various resistors in parallel with the relay to increase the current draw through the delay module thinking that it was under some minimum current threshold. Still buzzed. Still too much leakage in the delay state no matter what I tried.Low quality? Not good QA? Unsure. But rather than sending them back, I decided to try cutting the jumper wire that is supposed to be used to enable high voltage use. Well guess what? That solved the relay buzzing during the delay state, and it's been working perfectly ever since... for weeks so far, actuating many times per day. Time delay seems to be accurate as well based on the dial setting. So even though you aren't supposed to cut the jumper for lower voltage applications (ie: 24VAC), I'm going to recommend going off-script here if you detect too much leakage during the off/delay state with 24VAC. Can't say if this trick will work with lower voltages or DC. But it should work with 24VAC and higher. This workaround saved me the hassle of sending them back and sourcing a different module, possibly at a higher cost. I hope this helps someone. And I also hope the manufacturer of this delay module fixes this bug in a future update.
