CHEMSTREAM 5.3 Gallon Tighthead Jug With Cap & Faucet This jug is a 5.3-gallon HDPE (high density polyethylene) container used primarily for water, chemical & liquid storage but can also store small solids just as efficiently. This item is useful for storing water, home brewing, fermentation or for just those moments when liquid or small solids must be stored. The handle makes this particular container easy to manage and much more convenient than your average bucket. The convenient square design makes it easy to stand multiple containers next to each other in a tight space and can be stacked vertically to conserve on floor space. It is durable, yet light weight with quality construction that allows for years of use. Each container has a twist on 70MM lid to provide ease of filling and emptying as well as a threaded faucet for a more controlled dispensing option. A vented cap is also supplied with this container, it can be loosened to permit a more even flow from the container when emptying.

A little background...Tired of buying bottled water and adding to the landfill. Had been using a brita type filter for filling nalgene bottle(s) through out the day which had been getting old. So will be shortly installing an under cabinet inline 6 stage water filtering system. Now this filtered water will be stored in bulk in these 5.3 gallon containers.Wanted to find something like an aquatainer that I had previously used for camping but that was sturdy enough to be stackable. No reviews yet on this brand compared to others that had seen. But this had a well designed look and a really good price when compared to the others (...and was lucky enough at the time that a promo was going on for buy 3 and get 4th free).Biggest uncertainty for me was that this was officially rated for potable water ...and the product description mention somewhat that it was ...meaning I didn't see any official seals or certifications listed. Worst case, I have 4 impromptu gas / oil "cans".Packaging was good. Was pleasantly surprised to see the "HDPE 2" stamp on the bottom of the container meaning suitable for food and drink. And technically as the product description mentions that this is 5.3 gallons (...or 20 liters) as also stamped on the bottom. The plastic seems very strong ...and given the design of the containers, I feel confident that they are highly stackable when filled ...though I probably won't initially go any higher than 3 ...mainly because I don't trust myself from bumping into them and knocking them over. Side note, for stacking them, they are flexible enough that as long as the sides are aligned, the cap can be facing to the front or back.Another nice surprise, they came with more extra caps than expected (and the exact amount of valves) ...nothing was missing. It also looks like there is a barcode imprint near the bottom that I presume is the manufacture batch date ...nice to know how 'old' it is.The only initial negative which was not unexpected ...and expect it to go away... is the fresh "plastic smell" in the container. Will be doing several rinses prior to use ...and allowing it to air out.I will update this review if anything changes after some time of use.

I purchased this to be the water reservoir for discarded water from my countertop dishwasher. It can house up to 3 run cycles of discarded water and can be lifted to pour out. I put a curtain around it to match my kitchen and conceal it from sight.
