The compressor arrived in good condition and works well, It is a heavy duty item and makes valve seal replacement much easier.

These are great for changing valve springs, gives you great control when removing or installing spring, along with when just changing shims to adjust spring pressures. Once you use it a couple of times you get into a little routine that is surprisingly efficent.

Great quality tool. I tried 3 spring compressors before this and none of them could do the job. I used this on a BBC with really stiff springs, this handled it with no issues at all

I'm giving this a 1 rating because it requires you to make a few simple adjustments and then it works great. The nuts on top have to be on the outside otherwise the tool won't lock in place. The fork which compresses the spring needs to be straightened otherwise the compression is lopsided making it impossible to install the valve catches. The bottom screws near fell out. Loc tight them into place before using the tool

Product seems decent but doesn't come with stud to use product. They don't send the stud with it so you have to go out of your way to figure out which size you need and go buy it.

Threads had a few burrs & needed cleaning up before using. In tight engine spaces such as next to the brake master cylinder/ booster or on the passenger side head next to the AC Evap box, I temporarily removed the hinge pin & circlip, screwed on the tool, then reinstalled the pin (w/ no circlip) to hit those tight spaces. Worked perfectly. Just reinstall the pin from the higher side so as not to drop it into the head. (1970 C10 SBC w/ air.) If your a mechanic, get a better quality unit, but for ocassional home use it's fine.

I had to run lite springs on a SBC for cam break-in then take them out and put in the double springs. This compressor works perfect for doing that in the car.The foot for the spring can be adjusted for depth and turned sideways so there is room for the handle in any direction.Well engineered and manufactured BUT watch the way it's assembled. The 2 bolts that hold the pivot handle were installed backwards so the handle would not go all the way to lock down so I could not take out or install the keepers alone. It's an easy fix and I don't even think I can take off a star for it.If you are mechanically inclined and have the know how to be working on valve springs you should be able to fix this. Just take the bolts out and reverse them so the nuts are on the outside, then the handle will go all the way to lock the spring down.Look at their pictures and you will see them both ways.

I used this on a big block with very heavy valve springs. It worked perfectly out of the package. The issue with the bolts reversed as mentioned in other reviews appears to have been resolved.
