  • Remove the Valve Covers, Remove the Rocker arms and Rocker rails.
  • Place the Bottom Aluminum plate on the head where the rocker bolts mounted and place the middle section on top that has the stud and mount it to the head with the 2 supplied bolts make sure the tool is setting in the middle between the 2 valve springs. Hand Tighten using a ratchet and socket. Do not Over tighten you can cause damage to the head if you use a impact.
  • Place the top over the 2 valve springs and install supplied nut. Make sure the stud has grease on it.
  • Before tightening if you are using this on a head that is installed on the engine you will need to use a fitting with compressed air in the spark plug hole to keep the valves pushed close.
  • Slowly tighten the nut down using Hand Tool Only Do not use an impact it will cause the nut to overheat and strip threads!
  • After Compressing the springs you can remove the valve keepers using a magnet this will keep them from falling in the Head.
  • After removing keepers you can reverse the nut and slowly let the pressure off and remove the springs.

I was a little skeptical this thing would hold up to my new .660 dual valve springs but it worked great. Made it quick for me to swap my valve springs over on my LSA heads. (The extra gussets do not get in the way with aluminum spacer they include). The new valve springs did not bend the spring bar. Came with extra replacement hardware. Definitely isn’t a use once and throw away tool like I thought it would’ve been. Solid purchase.

This tool works excellent, but be careful ! It’s a China made tool so don’t tap on it or abuse it , cuz you’ll booger it up easily. I hate those clamp style spring compressors , so I wanted to give this option a try. It worked great on my LS heads. Just take your time and make sure you set it up correctly before you go cranking on the lead screw.

It’s not super quality, tolerances aren’t real tight. But it worked real well. I won’t be using this tool everyday. So for the money it was perfect. Grease the threads and you should get better life before the cheap threads strip.

Very easy to use. Just be sure to add a little oil to the threads.

I bought this to replace the valve springs in my LS1 that I am swapping in to my car. I am not some hack, I am a mechanic who actually builds stuff. The one thing I didn't have in my toolbox was a valve spring compressor for an LS engine. Bought this one because it was next day. It looked to be ok, but after about 2 cylinders (4 springs) the nut started to be difficult to remove and was shredding up the washer between the nut and plate. On the last spring on one head, the nut locked up and couldn't be removed. The bolt them stripped out in the plate and just spun, making this worthless. I used a wrench to tighten, not an impact gun. I was gentle with it because I didn't want this exact thing to happen.Total trash, now I have to wait for another one to come in so I can finish my engine.Do not buy this junk.Disappointing,
Michael
