It works great with Amcrest-branded IP cameras. I'm also using it with a Hikvision ONVIF IP camera, Dahua IP cameras, and an unbranded ONVIF doorbell camera from Nellys Security (NSC-DB2). The NVR itself is a lot smaller than it looks. The picture makes it seem like it's the size of a 1908's VCR, but it's much smaller than that. It is big enough for one HDD inside, and that's it. It integrates very well with the Android app "Amcrest View Pro." I especially like that it works in P2P mode with the Android app, which means you don't need to pay for a DNS service or do any port forwarding configuration with your router. It just works without any complex router setup. You can access the NVR for live video monitoring and/or playback anywhere you have an internet connection. The software in the NVR is pretty good. You have to configure cameras for it yourself, but it's not hard since it discovers IP cameras on your network. You just need to add the camera to the setup and enter its password, and you're done. One thing I didn't like was the noise from the case fan. I replaced the case fan with this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071W93333?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details and even then it was a bit noisy, so then I added this somewhat pricy speed controller to reduce the fan speed by about 50%: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072M2HKSN?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 After that, the fan noise was reduced significantly. Not to zero, but quiet enough while still providing adequate air flow to cool the internals. Overall, I really like this NVR and highly recommend it.

This is probably the 10th or 11th unit I have purchased and installed. Zero issues, does what is advertised and just keeps performing.I will say that my preference is to not use the AI interface as it can get a bit wonky, but it is still in the early days of trying to work the bugs out on their end.Overall, I will continue to utilize these cheap effective units. Highly recommend!

I have Amcrest and other ONVIF cameras in my home, 8 altogether. Only 1 of which is Amcrest branded. This NVR works great with all of my cameras, not just my Amcrest one. ONVIF compatibility works great

This 16 channel NVR replaced an 8 channel purchased in 2020. It had one missing HD cable that I used from the older NVR, dropping this rating by 1 star. I needed to add additional cameras was why I upgraded. Love the new features of the new NVR, and the simple, easy to follow instructions for setup.

What a simple way to get 24x7 recording without a service!

Amcrest firmware update broke compatibility with ONVIF cams - motion detection events from the cams are ignored by the NVR, meaning you must record everything or nothing and can't search by motion detection or be alerted when motion is detected. Also, ONVIF cam names revert to IPC whenever any component in the system reboots. Older Amcrest firmware cannot be loaded after the update. Amcrest support would not escalate the issue to their firmware engineers, citing "ONVIF compatibility is not guaranteed". It used to work fine until the update broke it. If you do buy or own this NVR and use or will use ONVIF cams instead of Amcrest branded, my advise is DISABLE ALL AUTOMATIC UPDATES to avoid your NVR becoming featureless.

Have been a fan of the Amcrest camera systems for many years. I have expanded my camera system and this is the second 16-channel NVR of this model. I have been using this one with a 6T drive.Have installed five Amcrest NVRs so far and not had a problem with any of them.

I like the amount of storage it allows. Very basic features and the fan is loud.

Muy buen producto en general, le puse un disco de 4TB y funciona correctamente, apenas tengo tiempo con el pero funciona correctamente, lo tengo conectado directamente al modem de internet, lo que me ha generado una baja en la calidad del internet.
